Volcano Golf and Country Club, an 18 hole, par 72 course designed by Jack Snyder, is atop an active volcano. For a time every year, the surrounding ohia turn scarlet when in bloom. Fairways are carved from lava---and a bad stroke can result in your ball being lost down a steam vent. |

Volcano is located just outside the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Park Rangers guide visitors to the best vantage points for lava viewing. |

Everything in the Volcanoes National Park is protected by law. When touring, light layered clothing, a rainproof jacket and a good pair of walking shoes are recommended. At the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum, you can educate yourself on past and present volcanology of the park. |

Volcano Winery, next to the Hawaii Volcano National Park, and just 3 miles south of Volcano Village, is the Big Islands only commercial winery. Although there are no official winery tours, there is free wine tasting 365 days a year, from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
