On the north shore of Kauai, lies the sunny Hanalei Bay, a place of golden beaches and swaying palm trees.

The village of Hanalei (Lei-making town) is located on the north-central coast of the island, on the banks of the Hanalei River. Nearby are the enchanting and ever beautiful Lumahai Beach and Hanalei Bay. This small town has a shopping center, historical sites, a cultural center and access to an array of ocean activities.

The Hanalei wildlife refuge includes 917 acres of taro farms, bottomland, and wooded slopes in the Hanalei River Valley.

This habitat was instituted to protect the endangered Koloa (Hawaiian duck), Hawaiian gallinule, Hawaiian coot and the Hawaiian stilt. It also provides habitat for migratory shorebirds and waterfowl.

The classic musical South Pacific was filmed nearby in the Lumahai area.

Hanalei Bay is set in a peaceful valley with cascading waterfalls, 45 championship holes of golf and beautiful sweeping vistas, including one of earth's most beautiful vistas, Bali Hai.

Visitors can choose from an assortment of beach and ocean activities as well as two nearby world class golf courses. Tennis, shopping and fine dining are also enjoyable activities to participate in.
