Sunset Beach runs for 2 miles and is one of the longest white sand beaches on Oahu. The beach is a series of well known surfing spots, each with it's own name and characteristics. |

The Banzai Pipeline is one of the world's most famous surfing spots. The famous tubelike effect of the breaking waves comes from a shallow reef just offshore which forces the waves to rise dramatically and quickly. This forces the crest forward to create "The Pipeline." |

At Sunset Beach County Park itself you should be aware of the very dangerous "Sunset Rip", a notorious offshore current that grabs people every year. Fortunately there is a lifeguard tower here. Summertime is generally safe. |
