Waikiki, a tropical playground since the days of Hawaii's kings and queens, has become the 11th largest city in the United States.

Waikiki reaches from the famous Diamond Head crater on the east to the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor on the west.

Geologically, Diamond Head is 350,000 years old. To travel there from Waikiki by bus or car, takes only 15 minutes.

Separated by the Ala Wai Canal, Waikiki is only 3 1/2 miles from downtown Honolulu.

Shopping, restaurants, sightseeing, beautiful beaches, and historical sights are all here for you to enjoy.

The best way to get around Waikiki itself, is by foot.

Visit historic Pearl Harbor or the Aloha Towers Market place where in olden days the cruise ships came into port with the rich and famous.

The famous Waikiki Beach is made up of Waikiki Beach itself and Prince Kuhio Beach.

These beaches front Kalakaua Avenue.

A long sand retaining wall called "Slippery Wall" fronts both beaches creating a semi-enclosed salt water pool .... for surfing, canoeing and safe year-round swimming along the gently sloping sandy-bottomed shoreline.

Kapiolani Regional Park in the shadow of Diamond Head is a quiet 140-acre oasis of greenery.

The park attracts joggers and is the starting point for the annual Honolulu Marathon.

The Waikiki Shell, an open-air amphitheater hosts many visiting musical groups and the Honolulu Symphony.

There are free concerts here on summer evenings.

Street entertainers, clowns, acrobats and jugglers can also be seen around Waikiki.
