Beacon Hill is on the Dutch side of the Island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean. The island's two sides share beautiful beaches, hilly terrain, a host of coves and bays. But the pace and personality of each side differs tremendously.

The French side offers a more sophisticated, laid-back milieu and some of the best dining in the Caribbean. The downtown capital Marigot has a flourishing open-air market that offers a mix of traditional Caribbean souvenirs and locally made art.

The island is relatively small at 37 square miles and is easy to get around and visit both sides. Vacationers often choose to spend their days on the beach, and then head to the restaurant laden village of Grand Case to take advantage of the French cuisine; but make sure to visit restaurants on both sides of the island. Explore the French gastronomy, and also the fine restaurants on Dutch, St Maarten. Besides French, and Italian food, you will find American, Mexican, Argentinean, Indonesian, Surinamese, Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Creole and Antillean cuisine, something for every palate. After dinner, there are plenty of places on Dutch, St. Maarten, from bars and discotheques to casinos - to keep you entertained before calling it quits for the night.

As a bonus, St. Martin is an ideal jumping-off point for visits to tiny Saba and neighboring Anguilla, both of which can be reached by ferry.

    This townhouse is your tropical home away from home. Perfectly suited for those interested in a longer stay, this large, bright and airy one bedroom town home is well appointed with every detail right down to safety pins and birthday candles. Walk in, unpack, uncork and let yourself thaw out. This town home is spaciously spread out over 2 levels, with the bedroom located on the lower level with its own balcony walk out. Inverter split unit airco cools this huge bedroom with walk in closet, bookcase full of great reads, and computer desk for your comfort. Bathroom has been recently renovated with Italian porcelain tiles with marble inlay. It's clean, simple and elegant. Also note the queen size bed has a beautiful new gel mattress that is covered with the famous "Protect-A-Bed" mattress cover. For your comfort and safety, the mattress cover and pillow covers are washed and sanitized. The upper level hosts a beautiful glass dining table for 4, a grand and spacious living room full of light, and a recently renovated kitchen with new refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and all the other bits and bobs you would find at home. Open the large french doors to the balcony and revel in the warm and constant Caribbean trade winds as you overlook the hills of Pointe Blanche, Devil's Copper coastline and exotic St Barth's in the distance. Furniture is bright and colourful rattan and surrounds you with a cozy tropical feeling. My little sister and I bought this townhouse last year with the intention for her to spend more time in the sunshine and warmth of St Maarten. Family and friends have been our guinea pigs and helping us with ideas to make this townhome a special place for visitors to kick off their flip flops, park their pool noodles and chill on the porch with a guavaberry colada. When you arrive, you will find your fridge stocked with some snacks, fruit, milk, bread, our famous gouda cheese, butter, fermented grape beverages and fermented hop beverages. We also give you some starter tea, coffee, sugar, etc. We even provide a beach cooler plus a water purifier to filter tap water. This helps with keeping plastic bottles out of our already overcrowded landfill. SPOILER ALERT: There is a new 6 story apartment building being built next door and it is slated to finish beginning of 2016. The crews start at 8am and finish at 4pm daily. There will be construction noise. To what extent we are not sure. If you can stand someone hammering or drilling or sawing in the distance, then we will give you the special special construction special. Our friends and family said they usually left for the beach early and returned after 4 most days anyway. One guest (a retired construction guy) loved to sit on the balcony and watch the 3rd world antics of island construction. He had some great stories to share!

    This apartment is small on space but big in heart. The kitchen is magnificent and custom designed with cooking island style in mind. All new porcelain floor tiles are easy to sweep sand off of and keep your feet cool on hot days. Close up the place, turn up the airco and chill, or open the secure jalousie windows and hear the waves wash over the rocky beach. Clean, bright coastal style will make your budget holiday feel like a million. The bed is a double size but with a wonderful dreamy memory foam mattress. This little place has a ton of storage, so it's easy to tuck your beach chairs and umbrella away for the night. This apartment was designed by me with Snowbirds in mind. A simple, stylish, easy to maintain apartment, so you can spend more time on the beach kinda place. Isn't that why you are coming here. Staying for more than a week. All linens, towels mats will be changed and the apartment fully cleaned. Interaction with Guests I would love to greet you upon your arrival and show you how everything works. That you you know how to reach me just in case you need The Neighborhood Pointe Blanche is a quiet residential neighborhood close to the cruise ship pier and only a 15 minute walk to town (5 min by car). The beach is not a white sand beach, but a rocky, seaweedy beachcombing kinda beach. Surfers like it as do the resident pelicans that fish there daily. You will love it too because the sound of the surf and the smell of the salt will breathe new life into those frozen bones of yours. There are a couple of mini markets in the vicinity. And Chesterfields Restaurant is just down the road serving the freshest seafood and best steaks on the island in waterfront comfort. The famous boardwalk of Philipsburg is also just a 15 minute walk away. Getting around Best to rent a car. The island has beaches everywhere and it's easier to discover them by car. Town is a 15 minute safe walk. You can catch a bus to all major areas on the island for about $1.50. But to get to the beaches....Rent a car. Other Things to Note I will stock the fridge with some bread, cheese, butter and other little crunch crunch things as well as some fermented grape beverages. Do you like beer?.....Just let me know your brand and it'll be ice cold for your arrival.

    Located in the quiet seaside neighbourhood of Pointe Blanche, this comfortable, cozy, ocean view efficiency apartment is perfect for those looking for bright, airy, clean and affordable accommodations. Affectionately called "the treefrog apartment" the high vaulted ceilings make this tropical apartment feel very spacious. Enjoy your large private terrace surrounded by tropical treetops, songbirds and in the evenings....Treefrogs. Cruise harbour facility is within a 10 minute walk and the shopping mecca of Philipsburg is only a 5 minute drive (15 minute walk). Most beaches are all within a 15 minutes drive and the Pointe Blanche area hosts a beach perfect for beachcombing and watching the sunrise and several hiking trails. For years our family and friends have enjoyed this guest apartment, which we now share with you. Our house is located right next door, but you do have a private balcony and private gated entrance. We are dog lovers and several of our 4 legged family roam our fenced yard. Therefore you will hear barking when someone arrives at the house or the arch nemesis coconut retriever from up the road, comes to leave a gift at our gate. They will also bark at you when you arrive home, until they get to know your voices and scent after a couple of days. Our Villa is a large Caribbean-style family vacation home in the gated community of Orient Bay. The house is only a two blocks walk from the famous white sand Orient Beach, the most popular and best serviced beach on the island. Orient Village is one block away and offers grocery shopping, cafés, restaurants, pizzerias, bars, French bakery, and other boutiques. This villa is one of the few properties on St. Martin at which you won’t necessarily need a rental car. The excellent taxi service on St. Martin will provide transportation to and from the airport. If you want to stay in a villa and self-contained neighborhood with shopping, dining, and beach, then Orient Bay is for you. Main Features The villa is a single family home on two levels.
