Borgo a Mozzano is a town in the province of Lucca
, in northern Tuscany
. It is dominated by the presence of Ponte della Maddalena also called "del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge).
The Devil's Bridge is located north of downtown and its majestic structure attracts thousands of tourists every year. This popular destination has a range of accommodation and lodging options, from cozy condo rentals and apartment rentals to more luxurious vacation rentals and villa rentals.
The legend of the bridge has it that a clever and respected master builder lived in a village on the banks of the Serchio River. The inhabitants of the village asked him to build a bridge to connect their village with the one across the river. He immediately set to work, but he soon saw that the work was not progressing as quickly as he'd promised. One evening while the builder was sitting alone on the banks of the Serchio, the devil appeared to him and claimed the he'd be able to finish the bridge in a single night. In return the builder was to give him the soul of the first person that crossed the bridge when it was completed. The builder accepted and the following day the village had its beautiful bridge that can still be seen today in Borgo a Mozzano.
The people were stunned that it had been accomplished, and went to congratulate this craftsman; who ordered them not to cross the bridge before sunset. In the meantime, the builder set off for Lucca to ask the Bishop for advice and he told the builder to let a pig cross first. This was done and the devil, furious at having been tricked, threw himself into the waters of the Serchio, and has not been seen in the area since. It is worth staying a few days in the town not only are there many accommodations and vacation rental, condo rental, apartment rental and villa rental options but also a rich heritage.

The Province of Lucca’s capital is the city of Lucca, 22km south
of Borgo a Mozzano. Among other reasons, the town is famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls.
The walls around the old town remained intact as the city expanded and modernized, unusual for cities in the region. As the walls lost their military importance, they became a pedestrian promenade which encircled the old town, although they were used for a number of years in the 20th century for racing cars. They are still fully intact today; each of the four principal sides is lined with a different tree species. The Academy of Sciences (1584) is the most famous of several academies and libraries.
Lucca also offers world class accommodations, vacation rentals, villa rentals and apartment rentals. Visitors can experience Italian luxury by staying in any of the locally owned villas.
