    SPECIAL NOTE FOR "CAR WEEK" August 15-21, 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and many associated car events: Carmel Concours on the Avenue, Pebble Beach Motoring Classic, Pebble Beach Classic Car Forum, Pacific Grove Concours Auto Rally, Automobilia Monterey Expo, etc. I'm offering the cottage to Car Week participants for the first time (in past years I've never rented it during August). It will be available for up to four people--so, excellent for two couples to share--for $4,000 for the 8 nights of Car Week. If requested, it would be possible to negotiate adding an extra day or two on either end of the stay. The cottage is situated three blocks from Carmel town beach and 3-4 blocks from Ocean Avenue, where many Car Week events will be held. There's a small driveway for off-street parking for one car. Since driving and parking in Carmel by the Sea is extremely congested during Car Week, the house is perfectly located for you to wander in and out of auto displays, make your restaurant reservations as you stroll, shop, and stop back in at the cottage whenever you want a break. ---------- Carmel is a walkable village, one mile square. It’s the site of one of the original California missions (beautifully restored today). You don’t need a car—you can shop for groceries, go to the drugstore, post office, stop at a cafe or restaurant, all within a 5 to 10 minute walk. (There is also regular bus service into the town of Monterey, and also down the coast to the Point Lobos Wildlife Reserve.) The house is a two-bedroom cottage, painted dark grey with white trim, across the street from the side of the La Playa Hotel. It has a gravel driveway big enough for one car. The La Playa Hotel was built in the 1920s and is on the National Register of Historic Hotels. I like to slip over there for a nightcap some evenings—it’s the “local” for many of its neighbors. The house is two and half blocks from the town beach, which is over half a mile long. At one end is a famous Frank Lloyd Wright house, built on a cliff; on the other end is Pebble Beach golf course. There are two more public beaches within five miles. The house is 900 square feet, with a deck that wraps around two sides. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, plus a new sofa bed in the living room. The house comfortably sleeps 6 adults. (Guests who have tried the sofa bed have given us good reviews.) We’ve restored the original oak floors from the 1920s in the house’s older section.

    This reno was just completed in Nov/2015, using quality furnishings, electronics, and materials. As you enter from the street, you are guided by Blue Agave plants, to the courtyard gates, where you see a cactus / rock garden, and a courtyard with 2 lounges and a patio table. The entire front yard has been high - lighted with LED accent lighting. The front door opens to an air conditioned home with new 24" tile throughout, and area rugs for comfort, and all new window coverings. You enter into the Great Room, with a lounged conversation area on your right, and a ceiling fan overhead. Straight ahead, there is a TV lounging area, with 2 recliners and a leather sofa and ottoman, for comfortable viewing of the 65" wall-mounted TV. Open, to the right, is the eating area with 4 chairs and a round table, and a slab granite eating bar, with 2 high stools. There is also a desk and office chair with a printer and phone, and a water machine. Adjacent to this, is the new kitchen with slab granite, s/s appliances, new sink and taps, a glass tile backsplash, refinished cabinetry, digital toaster, and a full compliment of small appliances and kitchenware. This entire Great Room, kitchen, eating area, affords a full view of the pool/patio area, through a wall of windows. Outside, the entire pool deck has been refinished, and a natural gas BBQ, along with a large patio table and 6 chairs, 2 other high chairs, and a bench with coffee table, are available for poolside entertaining. There also are 4 adjustable lounges that are great for sun bathing, or enjoying the LED lighting at night. This area is also visible from the master bedroom, through the large window area. This master bedroom has a Queen bed, 2 night tables and lamps, a 42" TV, phone with answering machine, a sitting area with floor lamp, a ceiling fan, and full length mirrored sliding closet doors, leading to the walk-in closet. The ensuite bathroom has been renovated with slab granite, 2 sinks, and new taps, a jetted tub / shower combo, etc. The guest bathroom has slab granite, refinished cabinetry, a new sink and taps, and a walk-in shower. The guest bedroom has a Queen bed, 2 night tables and lamps, a TV, full length mirrored closet doors, and a ceiling fan. It also has a very comfortable blow-up Queen mattress for additional sleeping arrangements. The laundry room has a washer & dryer, and a deep utility sink, for your convenience. The totally refinished garage, has new paint, and a quiet belt-driven door opener. It has an epoxy floor, new storage cabinets, and a work bench with a good supply of tools. A wall of sliding doors, hides the heater and hot water tank, and a couple of "cruiser" bikes, for the athletes in the family. But, the best part of the garage, is the "CALIFORNIA ROADSTER GOLF CART" that is parked in it! *** A DRIVING RANGE, and 2 CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSES for the golfers! *** There is weekly pool service, pesticide control, and gardening, wireless internet, and unlimited long distance telephone for continental US and Canada provided. This home has been renovated so the guests can fully enjoy the sunny weather, and all the amenities that Sun City has to offer, including library, fitness facilities, restaurants, post office, tennis, etc., with 24 hour gated security!! In the back you will find our amazing salt water pool (5.5ft. Deep) and 3ft spa with a beautiful waterfall surrounded by palm trees. This amazing pool has a built in hot tub that cascades into the pool. It also features a 12 feet long and 16ft wide shallow area “baja step “ for the smaller kids a to play and for adults to lounge and sun bait. The kids would love it. The pool and spa areas are gated for your safety. Also in the backyard we have a large bathroom with separate shower, patio set and BBQ. There is also a small play area with castle and outdoor kitchen and dining for kids. We provide 2 single strollers, a pack n play and plenty of toys and games for everyone, as well as a washer and dryer. For your convenience we have also included a helpful welcome packet in the home. This packet includes information on the home and the local area, tips and tricks for Disneyland, where to buy discounted tickets, lists and maps of local restaurants and grocery stores, maps to Disneyland from the house and more. Waterproof, allergen proof and bed bug mattress protectors are on every bed and everything is thoroughly cleaned between each stay.
