Friuli-Venezia Giulia Vacation Rentals by Owner

The natural and the refined aspects of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in north-eastern Italy make it an area of contrasts, and a marvelous place to vacation. Perhaps you will stay in one of the many privately-owned villas. With the Alps and the Dolomites anchoring the land, the rolling hills gently transform into plains and bring you to the lagoons and sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea, with a small stretch of rocky shoreline starting at Monfaclone, in the province of Gorizia, and continuing along the province of Trieste. Nestled against Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east, it is the gateway connecting the west of Europe to the eastern portion of Europe. An Italian summer holiday is not complete without visiting its beautiful beaches. Head to the beaches of the ancient island town of Grado. Eight miles of golden-sand beach can be enjoyed at Lignano Sabbiadoro. Villa rentals in Italy are a popular choice. There are villa rentals within estates or villas in the countryside.

The cosmopolitan city of Trieste embraces the sea. Stop at a historical café and browse the antique shops. The garden town of Gorizia shows its Middle European charm. The Venetian and Art Nouveau style palaces grace the city of Udine. Admire 4th Century Christian mosaics and the remains of a Roman forum in Aquileia. Refined elegance in the form of 14th Century to 17th Century buildings surround the town centre of Valvasone. Right next door to the Veneto Region you will find the province of Prodenone. With its access to the Dolomites, it is perfect for down-hill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Are you visiting during the warmer months? Hike and explore, go canoeing, fishing, and mountain biking. The Festival of Birds - the sagra dei osei - is a long-standing tradition which began in August of 1274 in the town of Sacileis. At this fair, the air is filled with the sound of competitors imitating bird-songs. Each town and city adds its unique flavour to your visit. On a wine tour, you can discover the top-quality wines of the region: Tocai Friulano, Verduzzo Friulano, Ramandolo, Pinot Grigio, Ribolla Gialla, and Picolit,
