There is a weekly market in the main piazza (Piazza Matteotti) of Greve every Saturday morning, lasting until about 1 pm.

The official name of this quintessential Tuscan town is Greve-in-Chiantiand it is appropriate since the picturesque community sits in the heart of the province, 16 miles south of Florence and 30 miles north Siena on the rolling road that runs past vineyards and farms, ancient villas and churches. Greve is a town made for relaxation whether it is a slow afternoon lunch, a sipping tour of the region's wines in one of the many wine shops and cellars in the area, or a leisurely browse among the stalls at the Saturday market. The town also hosts several wine, antique and music festivals throughout the year and is home to a sacred art museum, and boasts of its links to the New World.
Greve is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region, and many of the area's medieval castellos, small, once fortified villas, serve as showcases for the area's top-flight wines.
Sacred Art
Tuscany is famed for its many churches and villas that display some of Italy's most beautiful sacred art, much of it created in the Quattrocento, the Italian designation for the 15th century when the region's influential and rich leaders served as patrons to the arts. The Museum of San Francisco in Greve focuses on the region's sacred art, and the town's ancient Church of Santa Croce features the works of one of the most famous artists, Fra Angelico.
