Koh Phangan Accommodations - South Thailand Vacation Rentals

Koh Phangan is an island in the Gulf of Thailand in South East Thailand, and located in Surat Thani Province. It is famous for its full moon party at Haad Rin Beach and as mostly a backpackers destination. It is halfway between the islands of Ko Samui and Ko Tao. This island also known as a land of coconut trees has a variety of accommodations and lodging ranging from beachfront vacation rentals to comfortable condo rentals.

The closest airport is Ko Samui (USM) which has frequent flights from Bangkok and Phuket, daily flights from Singapore, and several direct flights each week from Chiang Mai and Kuala Lumpur. Transportation to the ferry dock is easy to find at the airport. Ferries depart several times a day with the last one around dusk. It’s easy and affordable to get a ferry to the island and enjoy the many accommodation, vacation rental and condo rental options.

Thong Sala is the island's "capital" and main ferry port. Chalok Lam is a fishing village with picturesque beach in long beautiful sandy bay at the northern tip. Visitors should not miss Bottle Beach, one of the most isolated beaches on island, on north coast accessible by longtail boat from Chaloklum (150B/person) or by 2-3hr long and tough hike from Haad Khom beach.

Visitors staying in any of the accommodations and vacation rentals on the island can easily take day trips around the island to discover more noteworthy places such as Haad Salad, an idyllic cove with several high-end resorts on the north-western part of the island. Haad Yao has a long white sandy beach just north of Haad Chao Phao, slightly more developed with more beach bars, 7-eleven, ATM and restaurants, but clean nice sea and snorkelling further from beach with accommodation and vacation rental choices. Haad Son is a beautiful bay with beach next to Haad Yao. Sri Thanu is a volcanic peninsula to the south of Haad Son and Haad Yao with bays and beaches.

The best time to visit island and also high season is during December-March when the water is high, clean, and good for swimming. It's also not rainy and temperatures are pleasant. Another high season time is during July/August after dry season when water is raising.
