Limburg Accommodation

Limburg is the southern most of the twelve Dutch provinces. Located in the southeastern portion of the country it is bordered by Belgium to the south and Germany to the East. A haven for indoor and outdoor activities, Limburg offers abundant hotel accommodations, condo rentals, vacation rentals, and many other lodging opportunities both rural and urban. The southern part of the province is remarkable for the Dutch countryside, as it is one of the few regions that sports hills. The highest point in the Netherlands, the Vaalserberg is situated in the province along the Dutch, German, Belgian border. There is a myriad of outdoor activities for visitors and locals alike in the region. You can go mountain biking through the rolling hills of southern Limburg or cycling along the roads past old world farms and villages. Visitors can kayak, canoe or boat down the river Meuse, a waterway that meanders across the entire province. Hiking, backpacking, swimming, and golfing are just a few of the outdoor adventures awaiting you. For the really adventurous, try a mountain biking tour through the caves in Valkenburg. There is camping accommodation throughout the province for those who prefer the fun of roughing it. Other outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy are climbing at an indoor climbing park, skiing at SnowWorld Landgraaf, the world’s largest indoor ski resort, swimming in the tropical pool Mosaqu or Boerengolf, golfing at a rural farm.

Finding the right hotel rental, condo rental, or vacation rental is easy for those looking for a more conventional style of accommodation and experience. Many of those accommodations and attractions are in Maastricht the provincial capital. However there are other sites outside the capital, like the 12th century Valkenburg castle ruins, the 17th century Eijsden castle and the De Meinweg National Park. One of the major attractions in Limburg is Gaiapark. Long considered the best Zoo in Holland, with many animals, spacious pens, open walkways, and for the kids, 14 meter high dinosaurs in the Dinodome, the largest indoor playing dome in Europe. Not to be missed is the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial located in Margraten near Maastricht. Situated in a wonderfully tranquil park the memorial is worth the hour or two it takes to visit.

Limburg also offers visitors a multitude of music, art, theatre, dance, festivals, fine dining, shopping and more. Leave your hotel rooms or vacation rentals for a night and head out to one of the annual festivals, like Pink-Pop, the oldest open air pop festival in the Netherlands, drawing international bands like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Dire Straits, and Metallica. The Limburg Festival annually showcases fifteen to twenty of the best, internationally known professional street theatre troupes. There are numerous restaurants in the cities and villages offering everything from fine dining and international cuisine to locally made cheeses and wines.

For a few days or a few weeks, grab you vacation rental and enjoy all that Limburg has to offer.
