Macerata Vacation Rentals by Owner

Owner Direct Vacation Rentals has accommodation all over the world, including Italy, and can help you find that perfect accommodation, whether it be a condo rental, villa rental, or apartment rental. Known across the world for its annual open-air opera festival, Macerata is a human-scaled provincial capital that also warrants a visit for its other charms. The historical city center is located on a hill between the Chienti and Potenza rivers. Together with the modern town, sprawling on the plain below, it has a population of about 43,000. There is a lift (elevator) connecting the two towns.

Macerata is an ideal Italian village to visit with lodging for every type of traveler (villas, vacation rentals, condo rentals, villa rentals, and apartment rentals) . Typically hilly, the climate is both Mediterranean and Continental. The Adriatic Sea (about 30 km away) and particularly the Appennine mountains influence the weather.

The best of the city's palaces line Corso Matteotti, the road that leaves the square at the side of the Loggia, while Corso della Repubblica will take you to Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the civic gallery and museum. Here is a mixed bag of works by Umbro-marchigiani painters - most important is Carlo Crivelli's Madonna and Child. Select your accommodation from our villa rentals and vacation rental pool and start enjoying this European city.

If you have time, you might examine the fine carriages in the Museo delle Carrozze or brush up your modern Italian history in one of the country's best museums dedicated to the Unification of Italy and wartime resistance. Dine on the wonderful Italian cuisine while you enjoy the comforts of your villa or apartment rental.

Macerata’s open-air opera festival in July has found an international following and takes place in the 7,000-seater Sferisterio - a monster of a Neoclassical arena erected by private subscription in the 1820's – you might care to know that it was originally built as a stadium for pallone, or Italian football. Be sure to book your accommodations early so that you have your choice of villa rental and apartment rentals.

Just north of the town, at the Villa Potenza, lie the remains of ancient Helvia Recina, a Roman settlement destroyed by the Visigoths. Some way south of the town is the Romanesque church of San Claudio al Chienti: its unusual shape is due to one church being built on the remains of another. • Sleeps 8
    • #202672

This luxury villa is located in a serene, rural position, adjacent to the Monti Sibillini National Park, yet only ten minutes from Tolentino and access to the SS77(Rome-Florence-Bologna-Venice). Immaculately restored , it looks out on an idyllic vista of patchwork fields, gnarled olive groves and orchards and the occasional verdant grapevine. Its rose-filled garden tumbles down towards the superb pool which in turn mirrors the surrounding landscape. The restoration was led by a local geometra renowned for his appreciation of the Marchigiani architecture and his meticulous attention to detail. From the different terracotta tile patterns downstairs and upstairs, to the metre thick stone walls throughout and the wooden shutters, every care has been taken to ensure it looks as it would have when originally constructed – although enhanced by the benefits of modern architecture. With four large double bedrooms and four bathrooms it is ideally suited to families or up to four couples. The extremely well-equipped kitchen would challenge the creativity of both master chef and amateur alike. For more casual dining there is an original wood-fired oven as well as a modern gas barbecue. It is situated 10 – 15 minutes from several exquisite hill towns: San Ginesio (recently named one of Italy’s most beautiful hill towns), Loro Piceno and Urbisaglia being just three of them. The latter two have superb restaurants. Cultural pursuits can also be fulfilled with many nearby attractions.

We have our own wines, jams, limoncello and olive oil. We want our guests to see what this beautiful region has to offer. Delicious food like cheese and salami, great beers and of course fantastic wines. Sloping hillside, the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic sea, with pebble and sandy beaches. We organize wine tours through the whole region, give wine tastings, cooking classes, photography courses and still there are many other interesting things left to explore. Our guests can relax in the luxurious Mini-apartment or in our outside lounge-area, where we give our courses and tastings. In summer there is also the opportunity to join us for a meal 3 times a week; BBQ, Pizza or a complete Italian 4/5 course meal.
