Padua Accommodations

Padua is a city in northern Italy. The city is sometimes included with Venice in the Padua-Venice Metropolitan Area. It hosts the renowned Universita' di Padova, almost 800 years old and famous for having had Galileo Galilei among its lecturers. Padua is the setting for most of the action in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. This beautiful, historical town offers accommodations for everyone, including vacation rentals, condo rentals, villa rentals, and apartment rentals.

The city is picturesque, with a dense network of arcaded streets opening into large communal piazze, and many bridges crossing the various branches of the Bacchiglione, which once surrounded the ancient walls like a moat. No matter what type of accommodation you are looking for, you will find it at Owner Direct Vacation Rentals ... including villa rentals, condo rentals, apartment rentals, etc.

The Scrovegni Chapel is Padua's most famous sight. It houses a remarkable cycle of frescoes completed in 1305 by Giotto. The most famous of the Paduan churches is the Basilica di Sant'Antonio da Padova, locally simply known as "Il Santo". Donatello's magnificent equestrian statue of the Venetian general Gattamelata can be found on the piazza in front of the Basilica di Sant'Antonio da Padova.

Book your accommodation now and take advantage of great specials on your next villa rental or apartment rental.

The city centre is surrounded by the 11 km-long city walls, built during the early 16th century, by architects that included Michele Sanmicheli. There are only a few ruins left, together with two gates, of the smaller and inner 13th century walls. There is also a castle, the Castello. Its main tower was transformed between 1767 and 1777 into an astronomical observatory known as Specola.

Padua has long been famous for its university, founded in 1222. It is also where, in 1678, Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia became the first woman in the world to graduate. The university hosts the oldest anatomy theatre, built in 1594. Explore for all of your vacation rental needs.
