All around Esparron the unspoiled countryside calls to be discovered; the vast plateaus, fields of lavender, and of course the deep canyons of Verdon.
Less than six kilometers away, in the middle of the Verdon country and its treasures, is the little town of Allemagne which happens to have a very beautiful castle listed as a historic monument. Lived in year round, this castle is kept in perfect condition and is open to the public for visiting. The history of this castle is quite interesting. In the 11th century it was a fort, then in the 16th century it was enlarged and restored into the magnificent Renaissance castle that it is today. The tulip gardens are superb.
