Silver Creek CO Vacation Rentals by Owner

Located in the heart of Grand County, Colorado, just 90 minutes from Denver International Airport is Silver Creek. It is a mining ghost town the last inhabitants leaving during the Depression. By the 1970s only an old mill and a few building foundations made of stone were left. A range of accommodations and lodging options are available around this deserted treasure. These accommodation choices include vacation rentals and condo rentals.

The Solvista Ski Resort, otherwise known as Solvista Basin at Granby Ranch, offers a variety of downhill slopes and cross-country trail systems. The SolVista Ski Resort offers its guests a rare mix: varied terrain for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiing/riding, panoramic views of the Continental Divide, two connected mountains that both filter to the same base. The SolVista Basin turns into a world-class bike park in the summer, with single-track and downhill trails spanning the entire resort. It is home to the 2010 USA Cycling National Championships and many other distinguished Mountain States Cup Races. The resort also offers charming vacation rentals and accommodations.

Within striking distance is the Arapaho National Forest which is located in the Rocky Mountains, straddling the continental divide in the Front Range west of Denver. It was established on July 1, 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt and named for the Arapaho. The forest includes part of the high Rockies and river valleys in the upper watershed of the Colorado River and South Platte River.

Denver, an hour’s drive away, has well-known neighborhoods including the historic and trendy LoDo (short for "Lower Downtown"), part of the city's Union Station neighborhood; Capitol Hill, Baker Historic District, South City Park/Greektown, Highland, Cherry Creek, Washington Park, Lowry; Uptown; Curtis Park, part of the Five Points neighborhood; Alamo Placita, the northern part of the Speer neighborhood; Park Hill, a successful example of intentional racial integration; and Golden Triangle, in the Civic Center. Most of these have many wonderful accommodation and vacation rental choices.

Silver Creek as a town might not offer much to visitors other than a historic tour but the surrounding area has much to offer all types of travelers.
