Tourism BC: What's new for 2005/06 Season: Silver Star Mountain Resort will be opening its new Silver Woods area, increasing the (village) side of the mountain by 54 per cent. Skiers and riders will enjoy over 360 acres of new territory, serviced by a $4.5 M Leitner-Poma high-speed detachable quad. Boasting a 341 metre (1,120 feet) vertical drop, this lift will provide access to nine new trails and gladed 'tree islands' that will offer fabulous champagne powder skiing on north-east facing slopes. The terrain mix will be 80 per cent intermediate and 20 per cent advanced, with a beginner slope as well. Silver Star skiers who enjoy Gypsy Queen and Sunny Ridge will love the new runs at Silver Woods.

Silver Star’s famous powder and friendly staff bring visitors back to this charming resort over and over. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, the resort offers 2,725 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 2,500 feet. The resort’s Victorian village, with brightly colored wooden buildings, creates a special atmosphere for relaxation, dining, and shopping.
The resort enjoys an annual snowfall of over 23 feet of light, dry snow. The mountain itself offers two distinct faces, providing varied terrain for skiers and snowboarding of every level. The Vance Creek side of the mountain offers groomed, smooth cruising runs with wide-open spaces, best for beginners and intermediates. The Putnam Creek side offers the most challenging runs with more than 60 runs providing a variety of terrain including excellent black runs.

Silver Star is a great place for individuals, couples or families, offering a full range of slopes and accommodation to cater for everyone's needs. Silver Star offers 2,500 vertical feet of groomed snow fields, a mild winter climate and a bounty of snow, approximately 570 cm per season. The longest runs are over 8 kms, which gives you an idea of the size of this resort. There are uncrowded chair lifts and 2725 acres especially for 'off piste' adventure skiing. The relatively low altitude of Silver Star won't take away your breath, but the scenery will!
Silver Star Mountain Ski and Snowboard School recently won the Canadian ski instructor alliance technical championship, edging off rivals Whistler and Blackcomb. The school offers a great range of programmes for ages 4 years and up.
Silver Star's Victorian pedestrian village is nestled at the base of the mountain. Walk down the snow covered paths lined with colourful, quaint victorian style shops, restaurants and hotels, every one with its own turn of the century architecture.
