Teton Pass Lodging

Teton Pass Ski Area is an alpine ski area located along the Rocky Mountain Front in northwestern Montana, west of Choteau, Montana and east of the Continental Divide. Many lodging, accommodations, vacation rentals, condo rentals and chalet rentals are available in the surrounding towns.

Teton Pass is one of the most enjoyable ski areas in Montana and has a nice variety of terrain and is very affordably priced. The views are fantastic at the ski area – and the drive up to the mountain from Choteau is an absolutely beautiful drive especially on a sunny day.

The ski area itself is built upon the flanks of Mt. Lockhart, which has a summit elevation of 8488 feet. The lift serving Teton Pass does not go to the summit of the Mt. Lockhart and for good reason – high winds and to some extent lack of snow. As Teton Pass lies on the east side of the continental divide, it can be pretty windy at the ski area at times – especially so on the higher peaks.

The base area at Teton Pass ski area consists of a small parking lot, a tiny ski rental shop and a very nice little lodge. The base lodge itself is a great lodge – small, rustic and functional. The lodge also has a bar and tavern making a fine place to pass the time away while you rest your legs after an energetic day of skiing.

There might not be any accommodation, vacation rental, condo rental and chalet rental choices at the ski area but the nearby town have many.

Choteau is surrounded by outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities on the Lewis and Clark National Forest and in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Hiking, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling are enjoyed in this beautiful area. Fishing and boating can be enjoyed at Eureka Reservoir located 8 miles north west of Choteau on Teton Canyon Road. This is truly a great place with picnic areas and overnight vacation rental, chalet rental and other accommodation options.

Freezeout Lake, located 4 miles south of Choteau, is a bird watchers paradise. Each year visitors come from miles around to view the 300,000 snow geese and 10,000 tundra swans that gather in March.

From outdoor recreation, natural history and breathtaking nature to charming accommodations and unique vacation rentals and chalet rentals, Teton Pass is a great winter vacation spot.

Our unit is located on the west side of scenic Glen Lake in a heavily wooded, very secluded and private area. Large windows face Glen Lake giving a spectacular view of the lake and opposite shore. Included in this view are mountains that rise up from the east shore of Glen Lake. Part of your view also includes Therriault Pass. Located at the top of this mountain range, it is a large glacially formed U-shaped pass. Years ago a glacier swept through this pass and down into the valley below where is scoured out the lake bed of Glen Lake. As the glacier receded the waters filled this basin and formed Glen Lake. Glen Lake is a picture perfect mountain lake. It is about 1 mile across and 2 miles long. Periodically you may spot an Osprey or Bald Eagle doing some fishing. Frequently, Whitetail Deer will be seen in the front yard feeding in the morning. We have also seen elk and moose on occasion, but deer are very common. Our Lodge is situated on a 1 acre wooded lot located about 100 yards up a slope from Glen Lake. The lodge construction is called post and beam. The frame of the house was built using huge Engelmann Spruce logs (26 inches to 38 inches in diameter) from Prince George, Canada. All the ceilings are constructed from tongue-and-groove pine planking. The walls between the logs are sheetrock. The massive logs give the Lodge a majestic look and feel and the sheetrock adds a clean and finished appearance. This is truly a very unique and beautiful structure. Construction of our unit was completed in the fall of 2002.
