If you Need a Real Vacation, You'll Find it in Nova Scotia at Maggies Landing.
Perched on a craggy forested outcrop overlooking St Margaret's Bay, Maggies Landing offers the best seats in the house for watching the wildlife and enjoying the spectacular views of the Bay and it's 18 islands. The stunning 180 degree panoramic views cover Head Harbour to the east and Hubbards inlet to the west, with the vast Atlantic Ocean to the south.
The public wharf is clearly visible below and within walking distance, where you can fish, swim, picnic or kayak. The local marina offers kayak hire, boat tours, and whale-watching tours. On land, there's a walking/cycling trail close by. Bikes can be hired from the Bike 'n Bean Cafe 5 minutes away (scrumptious food there too!). Then there are the numerous sandy beaches in rocky coves all along the coast.
Music and art festivals abound during the summer months, both locally and in towns and villages along the coast. Our nearest is Peggys Cove Festival of the Arts, July 11-21. It starts with artists 'on site' painting what they see, followed by a lively auction, and ends with a Studio Tour around the coast where you can see the work of talented local artists and maybe pick up a bargain to take home.
Ten minutes takes you to the closest town for eating out or shopping, and 20 minutes takes to you the Bayers Lake malls. Thirty minutes drive and you are in historic Halifax and all that the city has to offer.
Maggies Landing is central to all of the 'must see' places. Chester, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg are about 30-40 minutes drive. The 'valley' and it's wineries are about an hours' drive, and make a great day out because you can also take in Wolville and Annapolis Royal.
At day's end you can come back to your luxurious retreat, and sleep soundly after breathing lots of clean ocean air. When you sit up in bed next morning the view from your window will amaze you!
