César Chávez Day

USA - California, Texas, Arizona - March 31st

A state holiday in California only created in 2000. Cesar Chavez was the founder of the United Farm Workers union.

He spent his life organizing and fighting to improve the conditions for predominantly Hispanic and other immigrants who work in the fields and orchards.

This is an official holiday for state workers and an optional holiday for public schools.

In Texas this is a recognized day rather than an official state holiday, and in Arizona it's an optional state holiday.
