Kuhio (Regatta) Day

Prince Kuhio's birthday of March 26th is a state holiday in Hawaii which was established in 1949. He was the chief architect of the Hawaiian Homes Commission act, passed in 1921 by Congress, and established Kilauea National Park. He also obtained millions of dollars in funding to help create the military base at Pearl Harbor.

The event is celebrated with Canoe races and religious ceremonies.
