The house is next to Castel Gandolfo, best known as the summer residence of the Pope, the town was voted one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. There are several places of archeological interest, including the remains of the Villa of Domitian, as well of artistic interest, such as the Collegiate Church of St.Tomas of Villanova, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The area is included in the boundaries of the Regional Park of Castelli Romani, a vast area on the slope of the hills surrounding Rome, between 300 and 800 meters above sea level. Other nearby towns worth a visit are: Albano, Ariccia, Frascati, Grottaferrata, Marino, Montecompatri and Nemi. Some of the best wine makers have their cellars (open to the public) here.
Rome, is only 30 - 40 minutes away and the Tyrrhenian beaches can be reached in less than an hour.
The Castelgandolfo Country Club complex is located in the crater of the ancient dried up lake. The Club House, considered one of the most charming club houses among golf clubs, is hosted in the ancient Villa of Cardinal Flavio Chigi, built in the seventeenth century and overlooking the crater which Robert Trent Jones's fantasy has transformed into a fascinating golf course, full of technical features.
Our home is less the 200 meters from the Club House, the driving range and the first tee!!!
