This 19th century manor house and chapel, with parts dating back to the 14th century, has softened with age and, whilst retaining many original features, has become a warm and welcoming haven for the traveller seeking peace, tranquillity and comfort surrounded by only the beauty of the countryside, woods and mountains. The stone archways and enclosed patio offer cooling shade on the hottest summer's day or you can laze or lunch underneath the fragrant green canopy of the 200 year old, emblematic 'Holm Oak of El Mas', then in the evening, the large, covered porch with its log fire/barbecue is perfect for candlelit 'al fresco' dinners. With spectacular views across the valley to the serrated peaks of the Serra de Cadi, El Mas is an ideal choice for walkers and nature lovers. Following the Roman Salt Route, less than 50 km away in the castle town of Cardona, the 40 million year old Salt Mountain and the mines are a geologists' dream, whilst nearby, the new astronomical observatory at Castelltallat, with its 400mm telescope, offers a stunning insight into the marvels of the universe by day or night. Or, going back to the relaxed pace of yester-year, take a tour of this beautiful part of rural Catalonia on horse back, or by horse-drawn carriage. The booking is confirmed once signed documents have been faxed and 25% of the rental price (+ 28 Euros booking fee) has been paid. The remaining 75% of rental fee must be paid at least 42 days prior to arrival. If you cancel 75 or more days prior, payments less 15% of rental and 50 Euros are refunded.
