| Distances This complex is located just off of Ali'i drive, and is a one minute walk to the Kahaluu Beach Park. This is popular spot to surf and snorkel; it is frequented by turtles, and has a sheltered access for novice snorklers. A further ten minute walk will take you to White Sands beach (a.k.a. Magic Sands). The complex is a five mile drive to Kailua-Kona town. The Keauhou Shopping Center is located very near the Makolea; approximately a three minute drive. This shopping center has interesting shops, restaurants, a large super market, cinema, banks, medical clinic, drugstore, post office, gas station and a Wendy's with the best view you can imagine. The nearest golf course is Kona Country Club golf course, a 36-hole layout featuring the Ocean Golf Course and Ali'i (Royal) Golf Course. It is just a few minutes drive to this golf course. It is a two hour and fifteen minute drive to Volcanoes National Park. |
