Cabin
A traditional British Colombia Kootenay 2-story cabin, built of native fir heavy timber beams and yellow pine wide plank floors, on 11 acres of Lake Koocanusa shoreline, 20 minutes from the USA border.
The cabin is peaceful and private with the nearest neighbor located nearly a kilometre away. The cabin is on a paved road, cleared of snow in winter, 25 minutes from the Fernie ski hill, 1 hour from the Kimberley ski hill and 90 minutes from the Big Mountain at Whitefish, Montana. The area abounds with wildlife, scenery, colorful locals, swimming, fishing and golf.

    • Matching dishes, glasses and cutlery? Some, but really, it's a cabin in the Canadian Rockies, we don't actually specialize in that sort of thing. We give you a one-two of the local brewskis when you check in and hope that's enough.

    Living Room
    1 Double Bed (sleeps 2) and 1 Single Foam Mattress (sleeps 1). Living room. Sofa bed is beastly uncomfortable. Suitable for your more annoying in-laws. The foam mattress can be used in the LR or any of the bedrooms. It is fine for children any time but hideous for adults in winter as you are stuck in someone else's room. It is glorious in summer on the deck - cool air, no mosquitoes, starry skies....

    The best view in the Kootenay valley, north to Bull Mountain and the Lizard Range, with Plumbob mountain to the west.

    • The unit is Lake front. Beach gradient is steep, drops off immediately. Beach surface is rocky. Lots of water, lots of lakes and beaches, you'll have to call. Beach Equipment: Powerboat.
    • Nearby Attractions: Every outdoor thing you can imagine from flower and mushroom picking to the trans-rockies bike race to loons in hyper-powered water-ski boats to hunting Elk with high powered rifles to hurling yourself down sheer cliffs of ice and rock and claiming it's skiing to (my favourite) drinking beer on the deck at Rip 'n Richard's in Fernie and contemplating the Elk river and inventing reasons not to leave.
    Payments and Policies
    Payment Details
    30% of the rent is required to complete the booking (balance due on arrival). A credit card is required for a security/damage deposit. If you cancel anytime, payments (less a variable percentage depending on the timing) are refunded.
    Owner accepts payments by: Personal Cheque (Available for guests booking 10 or more days prior to arrival) - PayPal - Money Order or Cashiers Cheque - Direct Bank Deposit - Cash - Travelers Cheques
    Cancellation charge: 10% of the total rental if cancellation is more than 60 days before scheduled arrival, 20% if 30-60 days, 30% if less than 30 days. We are flexible. Email or call for special arrangements.

    Policies
    • No smoking is allowed.
    • Children are allowed.
    • Check in after 12:00 PM and check out before 12:00 PM. Check in/out times may be flexible upon request.
    • No pets allowed (Except for Service Animals).
    • There is no specific quiet time policy, though guests are asked to be respectful of any neighbours.
    • No Maid Service is provided during a stay.
    • Housekeeping is provided prior to arrival and after departure.
