Greve in Chianti - Villa The Poem

When the shadows of the setting sun grow longer and colour the valleys of the Chianti in blush tones, life at the farm seems to come to a standstill. Overlooking the surrounding vineyards and olive groves, the old house lit up by the sunset owes its name to the straw that was traditionally used to cover the Chianti wine flasks. The house is reached by a narrow and winding road that covers one's shoes with the summer's dust. The old grange, the columns of the pergola, the Siena coloured shingles of the roof are in perfect harmony with the surrounding hills and mountains of the Chianti.
