• Golf: can be reached by driving for 30 minute(s). There are 2 golf course(s) nearby.
• Shopping and Dining: can be reached by driving for 10 minute(s). The nearest town to Kehena beach is Pahoa about a 10-15 minute drive. Here you will find quaint, yet first class restaurants and cafes. A natural health food store, supermarket, clothing and speciality boutiques. The nearest mall and major town is located about 30 to 40 minutes drive in Hilo. Farmers markets held twice a week in Hilo, once a week in (Seaview Estates, 3 miles away) and once a week in Makua, approximately 15 minutes drive.
• Beach is located within a 5 minute(s) walk. Beach gradient is steep, drops off immediately. Beach surface is coarse sand. Kehena beach is the only Black sand beach on the East Side of the Big Island. It is clothing optional and during the week is very quiet and private. There are no facilities at this beach. There is a steep and sometimes difficult climb down to the beach. However once this has been accomplished this quiet bay is very worthwhile. Especially in whaling season when the whales and dolphins swim into the bay.
• Nearby Attractions: There are numerous attractions within 20-40 minute drive. The Volcano National Park is only a 25 to 30 minute drive, but the viewing site for the current lava flow into the sea is less than a 10 minute drive. Mauna Kea which is home to more telescopes than anywhere else in the world is about a 45 minute drive. However the new Imoloa Center (which also houses the planetarium) is definitely worth visiting and this is about a 30 minute drive into Hilo. The history and sites of Hilo alone warrant a minimum of 1 day's visit.

Payments and Policies

Payment Details

50% of the rent is required to complete the booking (balance due 15 days in advance). A refundable security/damage deposit of 300 is required. If you cancel 7 or more days prior, payments (less 250) are refunded.

Policies

• No smoking is allowed.
• No children are allowed under 18 years old.
• Check in after 3:00 PM and check out before 11:00 AM. Check in/out times may be flexible upon request.
• No pets allowed (Except for Service Animals).
• There is no specific quiet time policy, though guests are asked to be respectful of any neighbours.
• No Maid Service is provided during a stay.
• Housekeeping is provided prior to arrival and after departure.
