Cottage is located right on the ocean (south east exposure), only 30 feet from a walk-on beach, where oysters clams & crab abound. The breathtaking view changes constantly as you watch the marine traffic make their way along the waterfront. You can observe eagles (perching above the cottage), herons, seagulls, ducks, Canada geese, seals, sea lions & otters on a regular basis. Around the cottage tame deer can be seen grazing, sometimes as many as 8. There are also many small birds, and squirrels are regular visitors. |

Master Bedroom
1 Queen Bed. The bedroom is 10 x 12 feet and has a queen size bed, a large closet and a 4 drawer dresser. The window looks out over a beautiful garden area.
Living Room
1 Double Hide-A-Bed/Sofa Bed (sleeps 2). A spacious seating area by day and a comfortable sleeping area at night. This area is totally separate from the bedroom and has free access to the bathroom.
The view from this area is the breathtaking view of the ocean.
Bathroom 1 has toilet, bathtub, shower, hair dryer and one basin.
View
Cottage is located right on the ocean, only 30 feet from a walk-on beach. From the deck you have a 180 degree view of the water and other Gulf Islands. The view changes constantly, and you can watch the kayaks , canoes and other pleasure boats make their way through False Narrows. From the master bedroom you have a view of lush garden with both native and cultivated plants.

A laundromat is available on Gabriola Island.
There are plenty of board games (for rainy days or in the evening) and outdoor games like Bocce ball, Badminton and Croquet.
And the host will be pleased to teach you the art of clam digging or oyster picking.
Even though the cottage is very private, your hosts are close by and there to help in any way.

• Casidy Airport is within a 90 minute(s) drive. Casidy airport is approx. 1 1/2 hours away on Vancouver Island. There is also a float plane connection to Vancouver International Airport available just a 10 min boat ride and a 10 min car ride away from the cottage at Sylva Bay on Gabriola Island.
• Golf: can be reached by driving for 45 minute(s). There are 4 golf course(s) nearby. There is a challenging golf course on Gabriola Island. Other golf courses also available within 1 1/2 hrs on Vancouver Island (ferry + drive) • Ski lifts or Runs : can be reached by driving more than 120 minute(s). 3 hour drive to Mount Washington, located on Vancouver Island. 2 hour ferry trip + 1 1/2 hour drive to famous Whistler, B.C. the location of the 2010 winter Olympics. • Shopping and Dining: can be reached by driving for 45 minute(s). Gabriola Island is a short boat ride from the cottage where you can shop and dine. Or go further by ferry to Nanaimo where you can shop, dine or attend theater (both live and movies). • The unit is Ocean front. Beach gradient is gradual for a long distance. Beach surface is small pebbles. There is a moorage float/anchor. There is room for 1 boats. The ocean is just 30 feet from the front steps of the cottage. You can go for walks along the beach at low/medium tides and marvel at all the sea life (Small crabs, snails, starfish, and lots of other interesting sea creatures). We recommend you wear beach shoes to go walking or swimming since the beach consists mostly of pebbles and small rocks with some sandy patches. There are also Kayaks and canoes available to rent on location. Also, the waters around Mudge and Nanaimo are known to be one of the world's best destinations for diving. The late diving guru, Jacques Cousteau, named Nanaimo the "Emerald Sea". Artificial reefs are a tremendous attraction. Bring your own equipment or rent locally. • Nearby Attractions: You can explore other Gulf Islands by canoe, kayak or motor boat. There is Link, deCourcy, Pilades, Valdez and Ruxton, all within a days paddle from Arbutus Point Cottage. Day trips are another possibility and perhaps an over night stay at one or more of the following destinations: --- * Victoria, capital city of B.C. (90 km from Nanaimo) --- * Butchard Gardens (Take the Mill Bay ferry) --- * Chemaines (Famous murals) --- * Cathedral Grove (Old growth forrest on Vancouver Island) --- * Parksville and Qualicum (Walk the beach or visit the touristy town) --- * Gabriola Island (Golf course, Saturday crafters market an fishing charters from Silva Bay) ---
Payment Details
50% of the rent is required to complete the booking (balance due 30 days in advance). A refundable security/damage deposit of 250 is required. If you cancel anytime, payments (less 30%) are refunded if the unit is re-rented.
Policies
Owner accepts payments by: Money Order or Cashiers Cheque - Direct Bank Deposit - Cash Although we will make every effort to re-rent the cottage, we suggest you take out cancellation insurance. Please leave the cottage as you found it, or a cleaning fee of $ 35.00 may be charged. *Please note that the above policies relate to the Owner's portion only.
• No smoking is allowed.
• Children are allowed but this unit is not suitable for persons under the age of 6. • Check in after 3:00 PM and check out before 11:00 AM. • No pets allowed (Except for Service Animals). • There is no specific quiet time policy, though guests are asked to be respectful of any neighbours. • No Maid Service is provided during a stay. • Housekeeping is provided prior to arrival and after departure. |
