Ahhhhh. I just got back from the most amazing holiday at this guest house. I don't think I've ever been more relaxed.
The house is quite literally tucked high in the hills just outside of Oliver in the heart of the Okanagan wine region.
My suite was charming and oh-so-comfortable. There's a sitting area with a fireplace, a super-restful bed, and a bathroom with lovely fixtures. As a seal, I especially liked the glass and slate shower.
Factor in the new and beautifully-equipped kitchen, and you have everything you need to abandon your scheduled activities, hunker down in this remarkable place, and stay put.
One day, I did just that. I hiked into the hills around the guest house and soaked up the vistas across the valley and down the lake. I bird watched. I listened to the coyotes. I marvelled at the sunset. I grilled some BC spot prawns on the bbq and served them with a tasty Okanagan riesling and a side of shooting stars! I've travelled far and wide, but these memories here are among my best ever.
And that's why being here was so very special: you feel like you're alone at a beautiful oasis in a spectacular wilderness, far away from the hustle and bustle of the wineries, golf courses, orchards, and restaurants that dot the Okanagan Valley. And yet, they're less than 10 minutes away!
When you're gazing out from the chaise lounger on rocky edge of the valley, you feel like you're the first seal (or person) ever to set eyes on this breathtaking landscape. There are no houses, no hydro poles, no roads.... Nothing but magnificent rock formations, mountains, trees, and wildlife.
I cannot wait to go back.
