Studio 001 is tucked away at the northern end of Aventuras Akumal Bay, next to the Oasis Tulum resort complex. A great perk of this property is that it offers guests access to the resort beach club facilities. These include sun loungers, the pool, and the resort beach front. Studio 001 is a well-appointed unit, furnished with good quality finishings. The unit boasts a brand new king sized bed, ocean view sofas, a well-equipped granite countered kitchenette with breakfast bar and flat screen satellite TV, Wi-Fi internet, and an ensuite bathroom with shower and dressing room. Studio 001 also has sliding doors leading out on to its own private beachfront terrace where you can enjoy alfresco dining or cocktails at any time of day or night. The last home on the road before the condos is Casa Salvaje. Park in the parking area just past that last villa and take the first path towards to the condos. Condo #001 is in building A (first building, on the right hand side, furthest away from the hotel) with the nice modern looking front door and the sliding mosquito screen door. Casa del Sol, an Akumal Landmark and one of my favorite houses, located along Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon. Casa del Sol is well known for its great location, right at the headwaters of Yal-Ku Lagoon, very private, and for its funky eclectic decor. Previously owned by the band The Grateful Dead, this house is perfect for large groups or families, and has hosted some big name celebrities in its time. Casa del Sol can be rented with up to five bedrooms and can sleep up to 14 people comfortably. The outdoor kitchen and living area on the lagoon side of the property are great for entertaining and family get-togethers. Access to the lagoon is very easy, just down the garden path and across your own private bridge into the cool clear water of Yal-Ku where you can snorkel with the fish all day long. There is also a fabulous roof patio, half covered by a Palapa and half open to the sun and stars where you can sit surrounded by the ocean, the lagoon and the jungle. Casa del Sol is well known for the many unique and attractive murals painted throughout the house that highlight the area's Mayan History and Natural Beauty. This house is truly one of kind and lends itself very well to people just "hanging out" together and having a great time. Merily and Obideo, the caretakers, do an excellent job. They are very charming and will take excellent care of you. They are also available to prepare meals for an additional fee, which we highly recommend you try. They really do a great job. Casa del Sol offers many amenities including a gorgeous swimming pool and a lagoon side palapa with plenty of hammocks and lounge chairs for snoozing away the afternoon. It also has a and newly built waterfall with it's own small dipping pool on the lagoon side of the property. The refreshing waterfall is a wonderful place to give yourself a water massage after a swim in the lagoon, and it's also great for kids to play in the dipping pool when the waterfall is switched off. Kids also love to play in the private purpose built sandy beach area down by the lagoon and palapa. There are outdoor showers for rinsing off after snorkeling and tanks for rinsing your gear. There is a TV/DVD/VCR/Satellite in the main living area. They have a ton of VCR movies and a few DVDs. Casa del Sol offers 5 bedrooms and will comfortably sleep 14 people. There are 2 bedrooms on the second level. One room has 2 twin beds and 1 double, the other has 1 double and 1 single bed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and air conditioning. The Master is on the third level with a king bed, desk, private bathroom, air conditioning and a private palapa covered patio. For additional sleeping, there is a casita downstairs with king bed, private bathroom, stove and sink, and air conditioning. There is also a tower bedroom with a double bed and a single futon, air conditioning and great views. There are also roof top-hammocks, shower and toilet. There is also a bathroom off of the main patio area.. On leaving the Cancun airport, take Highway 307 heading south toward Tulum. After approximately 60 miles (100 km), you will arrive at the turnoff to Akumal Playa where you will pass under a large pedestrian bridge and local traffic bridge. Take the first RETORNO (highway turn around) after the Akumal bridges, and turn right into the community of Akumal Playa (If you pass the bridges again you have gone too far). Once you have entered Akumal continue down the road, pass under the arch, and keep to your left at the statue where the road splits. This will lead you to Half Moon Bay and Yal-Ku. Follow the road about a mile until you reach La Sirena Condominiums. Just past La Sirena follow the main paved road which turns to the left. Casa del Sol is at the end of this street, you can see it from here. Look for the large villa with the bright gold sun painted near the top. The La Sirena property centers around an enclosed garden courtyard. The two bedroom condominiums enjoy a full ocean view on the sea side and lovely cool garden view overlooking the courtyard to the interior. The garden courtyard centers around a large swimming pool that includes a full lap lane. Sirena 2 is pretty beach level unit with views over the beach area to the sparkling bay beyond. Vibrant colors, and tropical themed decor create a fabulous Caribbean feel that goes perfectly with the balmy weather and wonderful views outside. From the main entrance you will arrive at the open living space that includes a dining area with seating for four, large kitchen with ocean view and breakfast bar and main sitting area. The sunken sitting area is just a few steps down from the main entry level, creating the unobstructed ocean view from rear to front of the unit. The living area is comfortably furnished with built-in section sofa and is cooled with a large and quiet operating mini-split air conditioner. Glass doors off the sunken sitting area take you to the enclosed ocean side terrace that is well furnished for enjoying some quiet time and of course the great view. This is a perfect spot to take it all in during the early morning and evening hours. To the rear of the unit are the two bedrooms. The master bedroom enjoys the same tropical theme as the living areas. It is furnished with a king bed enjoys a private bath.
