Distances

• Halifax Airport is within a 90 minute(s) drive. The ferry to Pictou Island is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Halifax International Airport. The ferry departs from Caribou, the same location the ferry departs for Prince Edward Island. Guests' cars are parked at the ferry terminal free of charge during their stay on Pictou Island. The crossing to Pictou Island is 45 minutes and will cost $5 per adult. (kids are free) The ferry to Pictou Island is passenger only. You cannot drive your car on to the island. Private charters can also be arranged for $125 per crossing.
• Shopping and Dining: can be reached by driving for 45 minute(s). There are no shops on Pictou Island. Put your wallet away and relax. Guests must come with supplies from the mainland. Basic dry goods, fresh garden herbs, and cleaning products are provided. Fresh groceries can be ordered on Monday for Tuesday ferry delivery through your hosts. There is a grocery store in Pictou on the highway en route to the ferry terminal.
• The unit is Ocean front. Beach gradient is gradual for a long distance. Beach surface is sand and rocks. The beach is directly in front of the vacation home. Shallow, sheltered waters and sand bars provide a great beach for little ones to play on. The Northumberland Strait is the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas. There are also several other sandy beaches on Pictou Island. The hosts provide a vehicle and bicycles for island excursions.

Payments and Policies

Payment Details

30% of the rent is required to complete the booking (balance due 30 days in advance). A refundable security/damage deposit of 250 is required. If you cancel anytime, payments are refunded if the unit is re-rented.
Owner accepts payments by: PayPal - Money Order or Cashiers Cheque

Policies

• No smoking is allowed.
• Children are allowed.
• Check in after 1:00 PM and check out before 11:00 AM. Check in/out times may be flexible upon request.
• Dogs are allowed but must be approved by the Owner.
• There is no specific quiet time policy, though guests are asked to be respectful of any neighbours.
• An optional Daily Maid Service is available for the following fee of $40/Day.
• Housekeeping is provided prior to arrival and after departure.
