This town is located on a 200 foot volcanic plateau on Kauai's north shore, overlooking Hanalai Bay. Hawaii's most challenging golf course, the Prince, is located here. This 390 acres course sits on the Pacific Ocean, winding up and down hills, through jungles, along streams, and over deep ravines. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed this course, as well as the Makai Course.
Because of the beautiful tropical backdrop, Jurassic Park, King Kong, Raiders of the Lost Ark, South Pacific, and other films were shot here and in the surrounding area. Just over a hundred years ago, this countryside was home to Kaui's oldest ranch established in 1853 by Scotsman R.C. Wyllie. The name was changed after a visit from royalty in 1860 in honor of the royal son, Prince Albert. There is tennis, golf, spa facilities, river and ocean kayaking and hiking all available to be enjoyed in this magnificent environment.
