Dating back to 1491, this superb château is set in 45 hectares of beautiful grounds, reached by a long private drive and impressive archway to the inner courtyard. The château has huge rooms, high ceilings and elegant furniture, plus a hectare of enclosed gardens. The cool stone walls and tiled floors downstairs create an atmosphere of regal elegance. Fief Gallet is registered in the listings of French Historic Buildings and the owners have been producing the well known Audry Edmond Cognac here since 1878. This secluded setting is near the attractive town of Saintes, with many museums, the Abbey des Dames plus Roman walls. The beaches of Meschers and Royan are within easy reach as are the distilleries of Cognac. While touring this lovely region, be sure to look out for signs advertising Pineau de Charente; this local liqueur is used in many delicious recipies. Possibility of cook and of babysitting service. The booking is confirmed once signed documents have been faxed and 25% of the rental price (+ 28 Euros booking fee) has been paid. The remaining 75% of rental fee must be paid at least 42 days prior to arrival. If you cancel 75 or more days prior, payments less 15% of rental and 50 Euros are refunded.
