Less than half an hour from the coast, this restored farmhouse is ideally located between Royan, Rochefort and Saintes. Opening by bay windows on to a heated swimming pool, it boasts a spacious interior with thick stone walls and original features, yet is well designed for families sharing a holiday. The charming, helpful owners live in the same grounds and keep horses. The pretty countryside offers lovely walks, and just ten minutes drive away is the lake of Cadeuil, with water skiing, canoeing and abundant birdlife. Royan has beachside restaurants and good shops, as well as ferries to the wine-growing Médoc region. At Rochefort is the historic Corderie Royale and reconstructed boat Hermione, and a fast road from here runs to La Rochelle with its cobbled streets, harbour and new aquarium. The booking is confirmed once signed documents have been faxed and 25% of the rental price (+ 28 Euros booking fee) has been paid. The remaining 75% of rental fee must be paid at least 42 days prior to arrival. If you cancel 75 or more days prior, payments less 15% of rental and 50 Euros are refunded.
