Fernie is a small mountain town located in the south-eastern corner of BC in the BC Rockies. It is  approximately 42 km (26 miles) from the Alberta/British Columbia border and is one of the oldest communities in the area. The population is about 4,000 year-round residents, and swells in the winter months due to the fantastic skiing and snowboarding at Fernie Alpine Resort. The summer months offer a host of outdoor activites too such as hiking, biking, fly fishing and golf. Fernie is one BC town that is worth a visit.
