Thunder Bay Kite Festival (May): The Kite Festival, first held in 1981, was included in the "Top 50 Ontario Festivals" list for four years in a row. Come out and participate in the exciting kite workshops, demonstrations and activities. Previously, we have been joined by our friends from the , Toronto Kite Fliers and the New York Kite Enthusiasts. Members of these clubs continue to wow audiences with their spectacular demonstrations with their high-flying colourful kites. Don't miss this award-winning day of fun,colour and amazement!
Sudbury Gardening Festival (May): The event will include gardening-related vendors and exhibitors, as well as speaker presentations throughout the day. The Society also hosts its spring plant sale and juried horticultural show in conjunction with the event. Admission is FREE.
Mining Day in Thunder Bay (June): A free family event, with games and prizes for the kids. Come out and learn about mining, mineral exploration and geology in northwestern Ontario. Over 30 exhbitis related to mining, enivornmental protection, gology and careers as well as opportunities to try your luck at gold panning or listen to one of the several talks related to historical mining in northwestern Ontario. The young at heart always enjoy the chance to have an up close look at heavy equipment, diamond drills and helicopters. This outdoor event is held in Thunder Bay's beutiful Marina Park on the shore of Lake Superior.
Canada Day Celebration (July 1): Celebrate our nation’s birthday with a cake cutting ceremony, games, demonstrations and evening fireworks.
Norseman Festival (July): Annual family festival celebrating the rich history of aviation in Northern Ontario. Fly-in concert, static display, heritage display and flypast. Family activities for all ages including entertainment, food and games. This event has been attracting visitors from all over the world for over twenty years.
Kapuskasing Lumberjack Festival (July): The Lumberjack Heritage Festival desbucherons celebrates the pioneer families who carved a thriving community out of the unforgiving wilderness of Northern Ontario. The festival showcases lumberjacks, live entertainment and a live rodeo.
The Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival (July to August): An amazing ten-day festival celebrating the community of Sioux Lookout and is accessible to everyone. With over 100 events annually, the Blueberry Festival has become a grand summer celebration attracting thousands of visitors from around the region and around the world.Kitchener-Waterloo Windclimbers
Starting on the Friday before the August long weekend and lasting for ten days, residents and visitors come together and form a bond of great communal spirit. Many of the events encompass the beauty of the area, allowing participants and spectators to enjoy the plentiful lakes and beaches. From the very young to the young at heart, and from the athletically inclined to the most sedate sport enthusiasts, there is something for everyone at the Blueberry Festival.
Moose n Fiddle Music Festival (August): 7 Musical Acts...Artisans Village...Craft Beer Tent with Lake of the Woods Brewing Company...Camping at Caliper Lake Provincial Park...Pig Roast...Meet the Artists...Pancake Breakfast...S'mores and so, much more. So bring your lawn chairs and your coolers - it is all happening in Nestor Falls, ON. The musical acts include: Hay Fever, Fu Fu Chi Chi Choir, Steph Cameron, Greyhound Riders, The Knackers, Woody Holler & His Orchestra, Del Barber & The Profiteers.
Powassan Smoke 'N' Spurs Festival (September): The Festival consists of a Rodeo with all the traditional events, a live concert on a huge outdoor stage showcasing Canadian country music singers, a Show n Shine Truck show which show cases a variety of transport trucks, both show & working trucks, an antique tractor display, an all day free kids zone with face painting, bouncy castles, an assortment of children's outdoor equipment and ride-on toys, a vendor village area that provides an opportunity for vendors to display and sell quality products or provide information about services, the food and refreshment area that provides an on-site food scene with vendors of all types, you will undoubtedly find something to satisfy your hunger, and finally an ATV / Truck & Tractor Pull which allows competitors an opportunity to gain bragging rights by demonstrating their pulling power in their respected Class.
