    This is a charming, bright character house which has been modernized and is well-maintained. It is fully furnished and supplied. The house is located in the James Bay area of Victoria, very close to downtown and only ½ block from Dallas Road and the coast walk along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. There is a bus stop at 2 minutes walk. A large grocery store, 2 liquor stores, 3 coffee shops and 2 medical clinics are all located within 2 blocks. The house is equipped with WiFi, a 46" flat screen TV, Apple TV and Netflix, a stereo, and a DVD player. Renter is welcome to use the owner's DVDs and CD's. The kitchen has a microwave and toaster oven, as well as a conventional stove. Kettle, hand mixer, hand blender, toaster, and coffee maker are supplied. There is ample food storage. The refrigerator has a good-size freezer. There is a dining table and four chairs in the separate dining room. A smaller table, to seat two, is situated in the kitchen. The comfortable living room has a couch and two chairs. There is also a piano which the renter is welcome to use. (The fireplace is not in use.) The large master bedroom has a queen-size bed, a walk-in closet, 2 dressers, and bedside tables. This upstairs level also has an office area with chair, desk and ample shelving. The second bedroom is on the main level next to the full bathroom (bath and shower). This bedroom is roomy and bright and has a double bed and dresser. There are two entrances to the house. The French doors at the back lead onto a large deck which overlooks a pleasant, very private garden. The renter is welcome to use the barbecue on the deck. Front-loading washer and dryer (shared with owner) are available in basement. This is a very cozy house, with electric baseboard heating.     Come and enjoy a country getaway at our guesthouse and gallery. The guesthouse is a charming cottage in the popular Cedar/Yellowpoint area just 15 minutes south of Nanaimo. Located on a small farm, the guesthouse is a unique, stylish cottage with all the amenities you need to getaway from it all, yet remain within reach of urban amenities. As you drive down our long driveway, you will likely be greeted at the fence by the horses. Outside, the cottage has a large front porch with seating where you can enjoy your morning coffee and view the sun coming up over the pasture. Inside, the cottage boasts restored fir flooring and stained/leaded glass windows throughout which let in lots of sunshine. The open concept layout and 14 foot high ceilings provide plenty of space. Gather some fresh vegetables from our garden and use the large kitchen to make your own meals. Watch the ducks swim on the back pond as you do the dishes, or feed the chickens your leftovers out the back gate. There is always lots of activity going on at the farm and you are welcome to watch and enjoy. The cottage is tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything you will need on your vacation. There is a queen size bed plus two additional futon type beds (a double and a twin) to sleep a total of 5 people. All bedding and linens are provided. You can catch up on laundry by using the washer and drier or try using mother natures drier - the clothes line (a rare amenity in todays world). While at the cottage, you are in a perfect location to enjoy numerous day trips north and south to popular attractions in Chemainus, Ladysmith, Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum. Or, just stay at the farm and read a book, relax, take a hike at a local park or cook up a meal with ingredients from the garden. Yellowpoint/ Cedar is a rural area south of Nanaimo where long winding fences, pastures, century farms and markets are abundant. Each Sunday from 10 - 2 pm, a popular flea market takes place at the Cedar Community hall, 5 minutes away. Or on Saturdays, the local farmers market is at the Crow and Gate Pub, about 6 minutes away. The area is known for its concentration of artisans - check out the Cedar/Yellowpoint Artisans for more information and take a week to visit them all!. This is also a gallery for six months of the year displaying paintings and photography by the owner of the cottage. Many come to the area with their bikes to cycle the country roads and visit artisans or stop at local pubs. Enjoy the parks and trails nearby or head out to the beach 5 minutes away. For those traveling with horses, we can accommodate your trailer and horses in our front paddock or a stall in our deluxe barn. Water is available and there are trails nearby for you to enjoy.

    The house is about 5,000 square ft with open plan upstairs. The entranceway has a huge closet which houses coats and shoes. As you enter the home you will face the large open plan living room, kitchen to the right and also the dining room with 14ft ceilings. Off the entrance way is the door to the garage which can house up to four cars on a hydraulic lift, and also a powder room for visitors just before you reach the living room. Off the living room is the Zen feel master bedroom with large ensuite bathroom, and a dual gas fireplace for both the bedroom and bathroom. The master bedroom has a double French door which leads to a small terrace where you can sit all year round and enjoy cocktails, meals or afternoon tea as there is a gas heater on this terrace. This terrace can also be accessed from the living room. The large ensuite bathroom has a Jacuzzi and also a shower, with a double sink. The washer and dryer are also located in this bathroom along with a small TV. Upstairs boasts numerous skylights which is an added feature with one in the kitchen, one in the entrance hall and another skylight in the master bathroom and walk in closet area, never a shortage of natural light in this house. The living room is perfect for entertaining a large number of people and to keep everybody warm there is a gas fireplace. Facing the living room is the kitchen which is a gourmet chef’s dream fully equipped with high end appliances – Thermador Professional gas stove with four burners, barbecue grill, griddle top plus two ovens. There is also floor heating downstairs except in the bedroom with the king size bed which has electric heating. Off the family room is a private, small intimate study/reading room which is quiet and secluded and enjoys another view of the Juan de Fuca Strait. There is a telephone and fax machine in this room as well. There are two bedrooms downstairs, one bedroom has a king size bed, along with a sitting area which includes a sofa bed. There is a desk unit which houses a TV and play station. The ensuite has a very large shower large enough for two people, a tub and one sink. The third bedroom has a Caribbean flair with twin beds for two singles that can be pushed together to make a king bed for a couple, and another gorgeous view of the Juan de Fuca Strait. Swing on a rope into the lake or cruise using a the still waters in an antique cedar strip canoe (no powerboats allowed). Take the family out on "The Princess barge using the electric motor. Fish for trout and bass. Rods at the bar. Hiking trails are nearby and The Bear Mountain Golf Course, Athletic Club and Yoga place is a 15 minute drive. Walk to a 5 plex state of the art movie theatre or ride the opposite way for miles on the Galloping Goose cycle trail. Stunning lake views from the front deck and windows. Gazebo with garden roof and pathway through more garden and fruit trees to the lake down the other side. Tall evergreens on opposite shore where bald eagles nest. Otter, racoons, deer and herons share the lakefront. Mountains and trails behind you. 30 minutes to ferry terminal, 20 mins to airport. Whistler is a 2 hr drive and a 1.5 hr scenic ferry ride away. Our guests come from far away as New Zealand and Australia or as close as Vancouver. All rental income goes to improving the property.
