North Carolina's Appalachian Ski Mountain began in December 1968 when Grady Moretz and four partners bought it as a foreclosure property at a public auction. Over the years, the mountain began to slowly grow and expand and now the Appalachian Ski Mountain has
twelve slopes, two terrain parks, three modern chairlifts, two conveyor lifts, and a handle-pull lift . The wide variety of terrain and runs allows skiers from all levels to enjoy the mountain. And a wide variety of lodging accommodations, such as condo rentals, vacation rentals, villa rentals, and chalet rentals make staying here comfortable and relaxing.
Over the past few years the mountain has opened during the middle of November and has stayed open until the end of March. Chalet rentals can be booked before the mountain is even open! The Appalachian Ski Mountain also offers night skiing until 10pm every night. If you have a young child and cannot leave him or her in the vacation rental accommodations alone, the mountain has a nursery that is open every day (even holidays) until 4:30pm. Therefore, you can relinquish your villa rental accommodation and relax knowing your child is being cared for by the mountain’s professional, trained child care services.
After a day of skiing, there are many activities and sites to see before you rest back at your chalet rental. The
downtown village of Blowing Rock is a popular destination to visit and is only 3.5 miles away from the mountain. This ten block downtown Main Street zone surrounds the astonishing Memorial Park and the village itself features 12 delectable restaurants, an amazing art gallery, fascinating antique stores, local handicraft shops, and a variety of sweet shops. You could definitely spend the entire day away from your condo rental or villa rental, exploring this unique picturesque township.
If you really want to enjoy the Appalachian outdoors, visit
Grandfather Mountain. Grandfather Mountain is only 20 miles away from the vacation rental and chalet rental accommodation area of the ski hill and has some of the most spectacular views in the region. Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak of the Blue Ridge Chain, and attracts tourist all year round because of its “Mile High Swinging Bridge”. This 228 foot suspension bridge allows travelers to witness the breathtaking apex of Linville Peak. Many visitors head back to their villa rentals satisfied because they have had a chance to see some of the native wildlife such as bears, cougars, eagles, otters, and deer.
Owners Direct Vacation Rentals will make your next villa rentals booking easy and stress-free.
