About Bali - Initially known as Astali, Bali in Crete, Greece means “honey” in Turkish, as excellent honey was once collected and processed here (its name has nothing to do with its Indonesian namesake). Set against the dramatic and beautiful backdrop of Mount Kouloukas, this once quiet seaside village turned tourist spot is the perfect place for families, couples, and independent travelers looking for that relaxing break in the sun! For accommodations that have all the comforts of home, let Owner Direct Vacation Rentals help you. Though other resorts have condo rentals, the lodgings you’ll find below are villa rentals or apartment rentals that also have that traditional Greek charm.
Where to Stay & Why - Unwind with friends and family at our villa rentals or apartment rentals that will make you feel at home while also feeling luxurious. Aside from the versatile sleeping areas, clean and spacious bathrooms, cozy living rooms, fully equipped kitchens with dining areas, there are extras too. With our villas, you may get to swim in a private pool, post those insta-worthy pics right away with the free WiFi, catch up on your TV shows with cable TV, and a whole lot more! You won’t even have to pack a lot as laundry facilities may be available. There may also be air conditioning, DVD player, BBQ grill, parking spaces, and if you’re bringing kids with you, you can request a high chair, a crib, toys, and baby bath.
What to See & Do - Bali has one of the most stunning settings on the northern coast with plenty of cove beaches that are protected by the rocky peninsula to calm seas, making it perfect for children and families to find these waters relaxing. After hitting the beach, hire out a pedalo or climb the hills of Bali to navigate your way around the coastline. Day trips on a catamaran are an ideal way to spend a day out on the ocean especially when you head back to the vacation rentals during sunset.
Where to Eat & Drink - Most of the bars and restaurants are based around the middle bay of Bali where most nights you’ll be lucky enough to enjoy dinner overlooking the ocean. Take your pick from fresh seafood menus or fairly-light covered tavernas serving moussaka and end your evening with a delicious cocktail by the beach. Expect a shot of Raki, Crete’s local liquor, to be brought as the dessert to your meal, although be warned - it’s quite strong!
How to Get Here & Getting Around - Heraklion and Rethymnon both have ports and Heraklion has an airport. From there, you can get to the accommodations via a bus, taxi, or by renting a car. For getting around and if you didn’t want to rent a car, take the road train to the main road and venture to town for a bit of city life.
When to Go - When booking our Bali vacation rentals, keep spring and summer in mind. The weather is astonishingly beautiful, with comfortable weather and the light breeze in the evening.
