Boothbay Harbor Accommodations

The town of Boothbay Harbor in the state of Maine is an area that speaks a lot about how the United States developed in its early years. Boothbay Harbor can be considered one of the early settlements in Maine and as the town grew, it retained that sense of quaintness no longer seen in many US towns. For tourists wishing to get a blast from the past, Boothbay Harbor is a great place to visit.

As a busy harbor town since the early 1600s, accommodations in Boothbay Harbor are a plenty. From authentic New England style apartments to 19th Century heritage house rentals with ocean views, there is vacation rentals here for any type of group.

Peak season in Boothbay Harbor occurs in the summer - every July and August. Around these two months, the region plays host to tourists and summer residents alike. After the Labor Day celebrations, tourists wane in the region. Some of the town’s top tourist establishments are closed during the off seasons but a majority of the shops, restaurants and galleries in Boothbay Harbor do stay open year-round. Visitors hoping to check out Monhegan Island are advised to try visiting on weekends starting October 13 due to the perfect autumn temperatures in this time.

Stop by a Boothbay-region information center to get an idea of just what the town has to offer. Visitors can ask for a free guide of the Boothbay Region Land Trust’s holdings. The guide details the Trust’s various properties in the peninsula and areas that are perfect for a quiet stroll or picnic with the family. One of the best areas for picnics and hikes in Boothbay is the Linekin Preserve, a 95-acre land close to Ocean Point.

If visiting in the fall season, visitors should check out Boothbay Railway Village as it is the venue for the Fall Foliage Festival. On normal days, the village is a historic railway museum and guests can even experience what it's like to ride a steam train. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is another great place to visit in the fall and spring season. It has one of the best world-class gardens in the country and it even has its own gift shop filled with beautiful treasures.

For those who wish to go island hopping, Boothbay Harbor is close to Southport Island. The island has a small community where visitors can try out the best breakfast pizza and see the beautiful Hendricks Head beach and Sheepscot River. Ocean Point is another point of interest for those who wish to enjoy the breathtaking views of the peninsula. Artisans are a plenty in these two locations.

Welcome Cavalier Cottage B&B awarded Superhost status by Airbnb 2017 Cavalier Cottage B&B awarded TripAdvisor’sReviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation RentalsReviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals Certificate of Excellence 2014 and 2017 Discover Cavalier Cottage B&B, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals. Now in its sixth year, Cavalier Cottage has clearly answered a need for genuinely pet-friendly accommodations. When I opened the cottage in 2012, I could not have imagined the variety of interesting people, and animals, I would meet. Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, Cavalier Cottage is appointed with everything you’ll need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. More than one guest has commented that the cottage and its setting seem to have a special air of tranquility that works a kind of magic: Most pets settle right in with no sense of strangeness, and their human companions find themselves absorbing the atmosphere of peace in their surroundings. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do in this very special corner of New England. The area is a four-season vacation destination, from foliage time in the autumn, through ski season into spring hiking time and summer holidays. Cavalier Cottage is convenient to the scenic Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, downhill and X-country skiing, snow shoeing, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, and rock climbing. The beautiful Massachusetts countryside, with its many quaint villages and towns, is also home to a great variety of iconic educational and cultural destinations, including MassMoCa, the Clarke Institute of Art and the Williams College Art Museum and many more. See the “Area” page of the website for more details about diversity of activities and attractions. As more guests have visited, many potential guests were unable to come because the dates they wanted were already booked. Because Cavalier Cottage can only accommodate one party of guests at a time, we highly recommend that if your desired dates are available, you secure the space by submitting a deposit, in order to avoid disappointment. Cavalier Cottage, a cottage for all seasons, is perfect for week-long vacations, weekend or mid-week getaways, writer’s retreats, house-hunting visits, and temporary lodging for relocated executives.
