Nestled in the San Juan National Forest, one of the most peaceful and beautiful places on earth, is Purgatory Resort, a community devoted to an active outdoor lifestyle. At an elevation of 9,000 ft. And above the town of Durango, the air is crisp, the stars are close and the views are breathtaking.
Set up your vacation base camp in this beautifully remodeled and decorated Purgatory Condo. Located just off of Lower Hades and Yellow Brick Road ski runs. Just a short walk/ski away from the condo is the “six pack" high speed chair lift and the new Purgatory Lodge, where you will have optional access to club amenities including; heated pool, hot tub, and fitness/wellness center (additional fee charged).
When you stay at our Purgatory Condo you'll find its all about comfort and convenience. With the slope side location and a fully equipped kitchen, you can sleep in, make a full breakfast, gather your gear, walk/ski to the lift, and still be on one of the first chairs up the mountain. The unit has two balconies with mountain views, where you can savor a hot cup of coffee before hitting the slopes or enjoy a cold beer and snack in-between runs. On the days out of your gear, fire up the fireplace, grab a drink and witness an epic alpine glow of the majestic Needles Mountains. Additional amenities in the unit include; large flat screen TV with satellite cable/DVD, sleeper sofa, large closet and dresser, and electric BBQ grill on the deck.
Although Purgatory is famous for its fluffy powder and bluebird sunny winter days, those in the know can tell you that it doesn't get any better than summertime in the San Juan Mountains. In every direction you can find world class mountain/road biking, hiking, gold medal fly fishing, whitewater rafting/kayaking, golf courses, miles and miles of high mountain jeep/ohv/atv trails, motorcycling, mountaineering, etc.
Also located within easy driving distance from the condo, on the famous “million dollar highway" are these marvelous mountain communities where you can find additional expert backcountry and lift served skiing/snowboarding, ice climbing, hot springs, fine dining, festivals, microbreweries, etc., etc.....
