    This is a charming 15th Century stone house located in the heart of the village of Beynac, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The chateau at Beynac is on the top of a 500 foot cliff and the village houses are positioned below - providing privacy and spectacular views from one side of the house, and village life on the other. Extraordinary views of the magnificent Dordogne river and the Valley of the Five Chateaux present themselves from each of the four floors. The front door opens directly from the cobblestone streets - just steps from our private and unique parking grotte - into the main room of approximately 60 sq. Meters. Honey colored stone walls, stone tile floor, ancient wooden beams and a huge medieval fireplace set the tone for this main floor. A fully applianced kitchen with a granite countered cooking area is built into one of the old fireplaces. Antique carpets and leather seating offers a comfortable area to relax, listen to the stereo or view English satellite television on the 30' flat panel television. The large dining table suitable for seating up to 6 diners is next to the window offering spectacular views of the river, the sunset and the colorful montgolfiers (hot air balloons) drifting by at dawn and sunset most days in season. Down the stone staircase is the Master Bedroom with an ensuite bathroom combining modern fixtures with stone walls. A King-size bed with temperpedic mattress, reading lamps, desk and a large private full width balcony with loungers, barbeque and dining table for two make this room the ideal spot to relax with the a glass of wine to admire the view. On this same level there is a very small bedroom with bunk beds for children, which is especially convenient for parents who want their young children to sleep nearby but in a separate space from the master bedroom. One floor down, the old merchants store room now is the second large bedroom, again with stone walls, ancient beamed ceiling and a river view. This room also has a king size bed. An ensuite bathroom, and a full laundry room with washer and dryer complete this floor. Because neither bedrooms are in the attic, and the thick stone walls offer a cooling insulator against the hot Dordogne summers, we sleep comfortably cool all summer long, many times with a duvet cover. Another floor down brings you to a flagstoned terrace with a grape and wisteria arbor for a shaded sitting area and a few steps down, the stunning swimming pool area - with panoramic views and full access to the sun. Wonderful views of the river from both terraces and views of the Chateaux of Fayrac, Castelnaud, Lacosse and Marqueyssac. Eat, drink and be merry. Mont Joie is truly a destination in itself. Many of our guests return each year and plan their whole vacation around their stay at this property. So pack your bags and experience the true French joie de vivre. It is 50 minutes to the beautiful town of St Tropez, and also 50 minutes drive to Cannes and 55 minutes to Gorge de Verdon winch boasts an incredible turquoise blue lake. 25 minutes drive to Frejus seafront and sandy beaches and a fantastic aqua park. Nice is 1 hour and and 14 minutes by car. The local vineyards are superb with great quality wines. “We had a fantastic holiday in this spacious house with a magnificent swimming pool set in beautiful gardens in the hills above Les Arcs. The location is very peaceful and private. The swimming pool was the focus of our stay, the lack of chlorine was much appreciated and it has to be said that it was one of the best pools we have ever experienced. The pool is also toddler friendly because it has a gradual descent into the pool which gave our toddler the confidence to learn to swim. The house is tastefully decorated, clutter free, with modern furniture and mod cons. There is a functional kitchen with all the amenities we needed and an outdoor barbecue. The upstairs bedrooms have a shared balcony which gave us extra space and views of the surrounding area. As cyclists, we appreciated the use of the double garage for secure storage. We could descend down into les arcs for coffee and croissants at the excellent Le Tour cafe and return via traffic free roads through vineyards and leafy lanes. There is a local cycle path about 20 miles long, where the gradients were easy and gave panoramic views of the local vineyards. If you do this track, make sure you stop at the Station Rosalie (green caravan), west of Lorgues, serving the best bruschetta any of us had ever tasted. A trip to the Gorge De Verdon is spectacular and would make a great place to visit for either kayaking, cycling or walking. There is a big choice of local supermarkets, Boulangerie’s and a fruit and veg shop offering fantastic fruit and vegetables to die for, are within easy access by car or bike. The area seems to specialise in rose wine and the Chateau Saint Pierre is just south of Les Arcs selling great bottles for a good price. We had an incredible holiday and we can’t wait to go back! ”

    'We had a brilliant time!' Our beaming visitors say Béral is the perfect getaway for adults and for kids. The traditional 18th-century farmhouse in white Quercy stone is matched by the splendour of its private pool, large terrace with ping-pong & barbeque, orchard and exquisite setting. All has been sensitively restored to be characterful but with modern conveniences. The property is set into the side of a hill, with everything facing south; the terrace, pool and gardens are spread out to give wonderful views over the fields of sunflowers. Inside, the farmhouse has a large main living room, with stone and whitewashed walls, a traditional corner kitchen and a beamed open fireplace. To either side are delightful bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with a king and a cot if needed. All the rooms have views over the valley. The upstairs bathroom has a hipbath with a shower, and a toilet. Downstairs are two more bedrooms - both with antique floor tiles and two single beds - and a second bathroom. The house has been tastefully restored to retain all its ancient character, but with modern facilities throughout. The house is particularly well laid out for a single family or two families together. But the upper floor is also fantastic for a couple traveling alone. There are too many attractions in the area to suggest more than a few. Among the distinctive villages, Lascabanes has beautiful flowers and a lovely church; Lauzerte, high on a hill, a carefully restored bastide with a remarkable town square and good festivals; Saint-Cirq Lapopie, a 45-minute drive up the Lot, is the most famous village of the area, a medieval town in a spectacular cliffside setting hanging over the river - good restaurants too; Montpezat-de-Quercy has a beautiful arcaded square, and half-timbered houses. Rocamadour is not far away. Figeac is well worth a visit, with its museum to Champollion, who cracked the code of the Rosetta Stone. With the porous limestone prevalent on the causse, there are important caves in the area. The most famous is the huge underground village of Peche Merle, with its prehistoric paintings and traces of early man (up the Célé river from Cahors). The most well-known museums in the area include the Toulouse Lautrec museum in Albi (which also has a wonderful red-brick cathedral), the Musée des Beaux Arts in Agen, and the Musée d'Ingres in Montaubon. There are many other types of museum covering every aspect of Quercy life. Among the cathedrals and abbeys, apart from Albi, you might consider driving to the wonderful abbey at Moissac, which also has a stunning set of well-preserved cloisters. The Barn is a freshly renovated, traditional small Breton grange, dating back almost 300 years, and is ideal for a family holiday. We've even managed to retain several original stone tethering rings. Both upstairs bedrooms also bright and airy and feature exposed A-frames. There is a large shower room on the ground floor and a separate downstairs WC. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the living area, which means that nobody feels shut away when preparing a meal. The living space with its vaulted ceiling is bright and airy and furnished with a large comfortable suite - perfect for lounging. There's an LED TV (with satellite channels) and a Blu-Ray player and a log-burner for those lazy evenings in. Although, you are more than likely to want to spend your evenings around the large octagonal table on your private patio enjoying the evening summer sun. The lawn and private patio area to the rear of the property is a real sun-trap and there are parasols and sun-loungers at your disposal, as well as a bistro style table and chairs and a large wooden table with bench seating for al fresco dining. Situated in over an acre of mature gardens surrounded with magnificent tall trees where you can, depending on the season, take your pick of figs, cherries, apples, pears, plums, walnuts & hazelnuts. Or simply just relax with a good book under the shade of one of the centennial oaks and listen to the birds chattering around you.
