    The house belongs to our family since it was builded in later 1700’s. I’ve inherited this cottage from my grandmother in 1999 . I left Crete in 2001 and came to England to become mother and student and the house was left untouched for so long . Last year I was desperate to sale it for making some money that was much needed. However a short trip to Crete and visit to the house again had made their magic and it was my son that convinced me to just try and renovate as much as I can. Indeed the renovation started late September and it finished late April. It has been a very rocky path with tears and sleepless nights. Because I was here in England and not there. However my cousins were there and I’m grateful that they’ve helped me endlessly. Also the technology worked out to be useful so live messages and video calls with my workmen was daily routine . In the end the house came up to be exactly as I deemed it And for that I’m greategulmand happy now I hope people will be able to enjoy the warmth and the great feeling this house emits in every corner at any time of the year.

    Our comfortable self-catering vacation rental cottage brims with character and charm and can be found off a very quiet country lane between the pretty villages of Gouarec and Laniscat, right in the heart of Brittany. The Barn is a freshly renovated, traditional small Breton grange, dating back almost 300 years, and is ideal for a family holiday. It can sleep up to 6 people in three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin-bedded room). The property features ancient oak beamed ceilings throughout and the spacious 350 square foot living area enjoys a wonderful vaulted ceiling with feature exposed A-frames and original slate window sills. We've even managed to retain several original stone tethering rings. Both upstairs bedrooms also bright and airy and feature exposed A-frames. There is a large shower room on the ground floor and a separate downstairs WC. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the living area, which means that nobody feels shut away when preparing a meal. The living space with its vaulted ceiling is bright and airy and furnished with a large comfortable suite - perfect for lounging. There's an LED TV (with satellite channels) and a Blu-Ray player and a log-burner for those lazy evenings in. Although, you are more than likely to want to spend your evenings around the large octagonal table on your private patio enjoying the evening summer sun. The lawn and private patio area to the rear of the property is a real sun-trap and there are parasols and sun-loungers at your disposal, as well as a bistro style table and chairs and a large wooden table with bench seating for al fresco dining. Situated in over an acre of mature gardens surrounded with magnificent tall trees where you can, depending on the season, take your pick of figs, cherries, apples, pears, plums, walnuts & hazelnuts. Or simply just relax with a good book under the shade of one of the centennial oaks and listen to the birds chattering around you. We are fortunate to be surrounded by rolling green hills and quiet wooded valleys. The local area abounds with ancient monuments, old churches and historic towns and villages. This part of Brittany is a real gift for hikers and cyclists, bird watchers, anglers and nature lovers. Empty footpaths, flower-filled pastures, hidden valleys and lush woodland abound. It really is a place in which you can simply relax and breathe out. You don't need to travel for long if you are looking for things to do. The largest lake in Brittany, the Lac de Guerlédan and the beautiful Nantes-Brest Canal are both under 10 minutes away and offer family-friendly sandy beaches and a variety of water sports including kayaking, windsurfing and water-skiing. There are a variety of dining options scattered around the lake including dinner boat trips in the summer months. The picturesque Abbey of Bon Repos and the Quenecan Forest are both about 10 minutes away too. Both the south and north coasts of Brittany are within an hour’s drive thus giving you the best of all worlds. Driving in Brittany is not a problem - the roads are well-maintained, toll-free and never crowded. This beautiful region has a lot to offer you and is ideal to visit from early spring to late autumn. In the winter months, the wood-burning fire provides a nice, cosy atmosphere after a day’s exploring.
