Glacier Country Accommodations

Glacier Country Travel Guide
This is Glacier Country. Glacier National Park is in the western part of the State of Montana. You will feel welcomed by the small-town hospitality. The first region includes Flathead County, with the largest freshwater lake in the West, along with Glacier County and Lake County – together known as One Big Playground. Visit the communities north of Flathead Lake: Kalispell, West Glacier and Whitefish. What will you see at the lake-side communities of Bigfork, Lakeside and Polson? Visit the picturesque State of Montana. Stay in vacation rentals: a chalet vacation rental or a condo rental in town. Privately-owned accommodations for your holiday home can offer you room for a few people, or a larger group. For year-round activities, Whitefish Mountain Resort offers you a fun-filled holiday. In the summer time, go zip lining. There are terrific trails for mountain biking. Take a scenic lift. Play a game of golf at the Big Mountain Golf Course. Create a winter-time holiday you will love to remember. There are beginner runs, and super-fast runs for advanced skiers.

Leave your city-slicker duds in the closet of the bedroom in your vacation rental accommodations. Today, it is all about country! Where else can you have a cowboy chauffeur you to your dining destination in a wooden wagon, pulled by beautiful horses? At Lake Spencer, you can enjoy an authentic country meal while listening to good-old-country music. The culture, heritage and outdoor recreational activities are the highlight of the second region - the counties of Missoula, and Ravalli – named after the Italian Father Antony Ravalli of Ferrara Italy, who made the Bitterroot Valley his home in 1845. If you plan to go skiing on your winter holidays in Montana, you would also enjoy snowmobiling in the Seeley Valley. The third region, with the counties of Lincoln, Sanders and Mineral, contains the ancient Red Cedars of Ross Creek Cedar Grove, and other hidden gems. Take your car on this holiday; you are in roof-rack-country. Join the outdoor enthusiasts and load up your kayak, bike or canoe in the summer months and strap on the skis in the wintertime.

For you holiday home lodging, experience first-hand why staying in vacation rental accommodations has much more to offer you than choosing a hotel accommodation. You can allocate part of your travelling budget for more activities, by choosing to eat some meals at your vacation home rental. With grocery stores – and small-town farmers’ markets nearby –it is easy to set yourself up with the basics. The private-owner of your holiday home accommodation will have made sure that all the cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery are already in place in the fully-operational kitchens - in condo rentals or chalet rentals.

Our unit is located on the west side of scenic Glen Lake in a heavily wooded, very secluded and private area. Large windows face Glen Lake giving a spectacular view of the lake and opposite shore. Included in this view are mountains that rise up from the east shore of Glen Lake. Part of your view also includes Therriault Pass. Located at the top of this mountain range, it is a large glacially formed U-shaped pass. Years ago a glacier swept through this pass and down into the valley below where is scoured out the lake bed of Glen Lake. As the glacier receded the waters filled this basin and formed Glen Lake. Glen Lake is a picture perfect mountain lake. It is about 1 mile across and 2 miles long. Periodically you may spot an Osprey or Bald Eagle doing some fishing. Frequently, Whitetail Deer will be seen in the front yard feeding in the morning. We have also seen elk and moose on occasion, but deer are very common. Our Lodge is situated on a 1 acre wooded lot located about 100 yards up a slope from Glen Lake. The lodge construction is called post and beam. The frame of the house was built using huge Engelmann Spruce logs (26 inches to 38 inches in diameter) from Prince George, Canada. All the ceilings are constructed from tongue-and-groove pine planking. The walls between the logs are sheetrock. The massive logs give the Lodge a majestic look and feel and the sheetrock adds a clean and finished appearance. This is truly a very unique and beautiful structure. Construction of our unit was completed in the fall of 2002.
