Close to the market towns of Plaisance du Gers, Vic en Bigorre, Maubourguet and Aire sur l’Adour visitors are spoiled for choice when looking for quality regional produce. In addition to the Madiran Appellation, the areas around Madiran include the wine growing regions of St Mont, Juracon and the Bearn. In addition, within easy reach, to the north is the Armagnac region and some of the most charming towns in South West France. For those interested in exploring the area, within easy reach of the Pyrenees mountains, which offer a wide variety of activities, and the French Atlantic coast and the Cote d’Argent. The Surroundings For lovers of beautiful countryside, good food, fine wine and a more relaxed pace of life, we offer an ideal holiday location. Situated in the heart of the Madiran wine growing area of the Haute Pyrenees in the South West of France. Surrounded by vineyards, the property is on the borders of the Gers, Pyrenees Atlantique and Haute Pyrenees in the heart of Gascony and close to the Pyrenees mountains and the beaches of the Cote d’Argent.

Our property is just outside the village of Vidou, about 2km from the little Gascony Bastide town of Trie-sur-Baïse. Built in the 1880s, a traditional L-shaped Gascony farmhouse, with the family living in one side and the livestock and winter stores in the other. It remained a working farm until the end of the 1990’s when the land was sold off and the barn side of the property was tastefully converted into a Pyrenees holiday gîte. The department of the Hautes Pyrénées is part of the relatively undiscovered and tranquil south west of France known as Gascony. The small village of Vidou is situated just 3.5 kilometres from the 13th century bastide market town of Trie sur Baïse (pronounced Tree sue’r By-ease), which offers all day to day requirements, with banks, bakers, supermarkets, butcheries, pharmacies, doctors, dentists and tourist information bureau. A bustling market takes place every Tuesday. Midi-Pyrénées boasts more than 20 world-famous Great Tourist Sites of outstanding interest in a region that takes up much of South-West France, including Millau Viaduct, the Cirque de Gavarnie, Rocamadour and much more. Sun-kissed, endearing and a treat for lovers of fine food, the region’s way of life and beautiful countryside will bowl you over, not forgetting the region’s capital of Toulouse in all its red-brick finery, a city renowned for its quality of life.
