  • Tiny House with Private

    Mabou: Cabin
    1 Loft • 1 Den • 1 BA • Sleeps 2 • #232215
    98 to 98 CAD/night
Living Small in a Tiny House is Really About Living Big Tiny houses aren’t just for hipsters and millennials anymore. As Americans and Canadians have taken an interest in tidying up, downsizing their belongings and living more efficiently, the tiny house movement has gone mainstream, and it’s inspiring people of all ages to embrace small spaces. Our home is placed on one of the most magical places we have found in many years traveling around the world in our boat. It sits in a lovely green field full of apple trees, surrounded by mountains. Facing northeast is an ocean view, where a babbling brook ends as a waterfall on a private sandy beach. The perfect shower after an ocean swim. And its unspoilt quiet will help you to experience life with open eyes and a new energy. It is back to basics. It is heaven on earth. Everything you need is here: the brook supplies you with clear mountain water for your unique original wine barrel indoor shower; a propane stove for cooking; a sofa that looks out to an incredible view that opens into a single bed; and a loft with a comfortable king sized bed and four screened windows. In 2014 this tiny house was chosen to be one of the coolest 17 AirBnB listings in Canada The idea of living in a tiny house in the middle of nowhere, in a paradise, is even more: it is a way to be free and independent, gifted by mother nature with all the basics you need for happiness: solar power, water and warmth. A so called tiny house is built like a solid well insulated big house, but it needs only a small portion of the energy of a big house, thanks to high tech appliances and small rooms. Nothing is wasted, even the compost generated by the toilet can be used for gardening. Reduction makes us happy. This is the way of living we practiced for many years on the ocean in our sailboat. It has finally reached maturity in a new vision, on land. We want to share the vision, in a world of "too much", of wastefulness and of restlessness. Positive reviews proof that people appreciate this experience.
  • Rustic Retreat. Privacy

    Kingsburg: Cottage
    3 BDR • 2 BA • Sleeps 5 • #247677
    135 to 200 CAD/night
A rustic cottage on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Set well back from a narrow road, it offers privacy combined with sea views, a two-kilometer sand beach, and a walking trail around one of the headlands that protect the beach. The rustic exterior belies the comforts within--a kitchen with all modern conveniences (except a dishwasher), two full bathrooms, and three bedrooms. There is also a screened porch with table and chairs for meals al fresco but without bugs, and an open deck as well.To walk to the beach you have a choice of two well marked paths. It takes about ten minutes. There is also a lake back of the seafront with a small sand beach suitable for young children or swimmers who do not like the bracing North Atlantic waves. Nearby is the beautiful town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It also boasts a good number of excellent restaurants, ranging from fish and chips to fine dining. For supplies, there is a small grocery store about five km from the cottage, and larger grocery stores in the towns of Lunenburg and Bridgewater. My own family have been coming here from childhood. The cottage is not available in late July or August because it will be filled with our children and grandchildren.
