Lake Wales is a city in Polk County,
central Florida and

Chalet Suzanne, once known as the Carleton Club, originally envisioned as a magnificent residential resort appealing to people who enjoyed golf and tennis, was a vision of cheese baron James L. Kraft. In 1931 the house was opened the home as a restaurant and inn to travelers, serving exotic recipes on fine china that she had gathered around the world.
Spook Hill, an optical illusion which makes a car in neutral appear as if it is traveling uphill (gravity hill).
The
commercial historic district in the heart of the old town contains important examples of architecture from the period of the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The district's buildings are also home to a few wonderful accommodation and vacation rental options.
In the valleys around Lake Wales, there are many clear lakes that provide year-round recreational opportunities. In addition to a 2.25 mile bike/hike path along the shores of Lake Wales, there are more than 250 acres of public parks and athletic fields.
