There is no light interference for 100 miles in all directions. The clarity of the night sky is stunning. Listen carefully while you star gaze for the Great Horned Owl’s call. The female usually hoots first, and the male replies at a lower pitch. Even though females average a third larger than males, the smaller male has a bigger voice box. Activities World Class wild trout fishing Chaunigan Lake’s fishing is exceptional because of the lakes unique water characteristics. The lake is deep 168 feet, crystal clear, and fed by underwater aquifers that provide the lake’s nutrients. The lake has an abundant fresh water shrimp population which produces, trout with salmon coloured flesh. The fish spawn in both the inlet and outlet creeks on opposite ends of the lake. The excellent spawning beds produce an abundance of wild rainbow trout. It is common for fisherman to catch 20 fish in a day. The average fish size is 2 to 2.5 pounds and guests frequently catch a few 3.5-to-6-pound trout during their stay. Water sports: your booking includes a fishing boat &amp; motor, canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddle board. Fishing rod, flies etc. Are available at the lodge. Canoeing and Kayaking: Glide your canoe silently along the lake shore and look for loons, mergansers, barrows golden eye, grebes, bald headed eagles, and osprey. All these birds feed on the abundant trout and produce a new generation each summer. As the season progresses you can enjoy watching the young birds training for their fall migration flight south. The lake has a large eagle’s nest which overhangs the water about half way down the lake. The eagles usually produce two fledglings which can be seen from your boat. Beach activities: Chaunigan has a long south facing fine gravel beach. Swim in the crystal-clear water, suntan on the beach and warm up later in the hot tub or sauna. Watch out for bunnies crossing the beach. Coffee with a view: Enjoy your morning coffee sitting on the lodge deck, mingle with other guests, or wander down the beach for a spectacular view of the mountains. Hiking: Our most popular hiking trail is from the lodge to the top of Chaunigan Mountain. The hike is 3 to 4 hours return trip. The view is wonderful, and we suggest you take a picnic lunch. Beaver Lake is clear and excellent for swimming and has a variety of fresh water fish. Surrounded by nature, you will embrace a state of relaxation, simple pleasures and the Loon calls. Experience the unique climate of the valley, hot summer days, cool nights. Enjoy fishing, hunting, swimming, canoeing and endless wilderness trails for horses, bikes, quads or hikes. A paradise for bird watching with over 80 varieties cataloged by our guests including Bald Eagles. We have unique Falcons and Hawks nesting along the ridge and we are on the migratory path for several species including Swans and Pelicans. Area wildlife includes moose, bear, fox, cougar, otter, weasels, ermine and of course, deer. Try your hand at panning for gold and precious stones at Quesnel Forks. Enjoy getting to know our horses and dwarf goats. The space Our Farmhouse cottage is furnished with fine antiques and comfortable furniture. It has a large fully equipped kitchen with double sink, microwave, stove, fridge and dishwasher. Featured wood cook stove. Guest access Private lake front with boat launch and dock. Three acre fenced farmyard and access to roam the fields and forest. We are always close by as we live on the property year round, but give our guests the privacy to enjoy the serenity. We always enjoy a nice chat whilst doing the farm chores. Other things to note Wifi access is limited to urgent. Expect to retreat from social media. Antique books, book collections and other diverse reading materials provided.

When is the last time you could actually see the stars without light pollution or step outside your door and hear the magic of mother nature. This is the only private residence on Hathaway Lake where kokanee abound and nature is at your doorstep. A quaint log cottage with 2 decks and private dock. Only 4.5 hours from the Fraser Valley on paved roads and only 15 minutes from shopping, groceries and restaurants. Local activities (besides all the water and winter sports and fishing) include antiquing, horseback riding, hiking, cycling and so much more. Book your stay today. Stairs carved into the hillside give you access to your own private dock for excellent fishing, swimming, water sports, canoeing or kayaking, or just lazing on shore listening to nature. A canoe and paddles are provided for your enjoyment. You will be required to bring your own Personal Flotation Devises (lifejackets). A flat area to sit and enjoy a small camp fire or sit on the upper deck and enjoy a large fire table to share a snack or drinks by. Both upper and lower decks are partially covered so you can sit out no matter the weather. Bring your ATV's and explore miles of trails in untouched wilderness. In winter it is a wonderland of trails for snowmobiling or cross country skiing. Upstairs of this 3 level home are 2 bedrooms and 1 ensuite. The spacious master bedroom has 1 king size bed (2 single matresses- sleeps 2) while the second bedroom has bunk beds and 1 single bed (sleeps 3) with ensuite. The main floor living area has a pull out couch to double bed (sleeps 2) and the lower floor has an iron single day bed (sleeps 1). The upper deck wraps around 3 sides of the house with 30% under cover. The lower deck faces the lake with stairs to access the fire pit and the lakefront. Parking for 2 vehicles.
