Los Santos Accommodations
Los Santos has an incredible selection of accommodations for you to choose from. Located in Panama on the Pacific Ocean, the province of Los Santos has just over 80,000 residents. The region is full of amazing ocean sites, but is also a popular destination for carnivals and festivals.
Some of the most popular festivals in the region include the National Festival of the Pollera, the festival of the Patron Santa Librada and the Festival Nacional de la Majorana. The province is also believed to be where the Pollera, the traditional Panamanian dress, was founded. As such, the region is prominent in much Panamanian folklore, evidenced in these festivals and carnivals.
The economic situation in the province is primarily brought about by agricultural crops such as corn, rice, coffee and sugar cane. As in the rest of Panama, tourism is also quickly developing here. There are several excellent beaches in the region, particularly in Vanado, Achotines and Guararé. The island of Isla Iguana is known for its blue water and white sand beaches, and is only a 25 minute boat ride from Pedasi. Vacation rentals can also be found on the island, making a truly tropical destination of choice.
If you’d rather explore the inland, there are numerous national parks, including Cerro Hoya, to trek through. In the cities, the Museum of nationality, the Museum Belisario Porras and the Museum Manuel F Zarate are extremely popular to visit as well as being very educational of the local culture and history. Alternatively, Sitio Arqueologico Cerro Juan Diaz is an archaeological site that is worth a visit to explore.
In the capital city of Las Tablas, the biggest attraction is the church of Santa Librada, which is also considered to be a national monument. The city also focuses a great deal of attention on the Carnival celebration which lasts four days and five nights. The main attraction of the festival is the culecos mojadero, which is cleaned and purified by being sprayed with water. There are parades of floats and many other activities to enjoy. If you’ll be in the region during this festival, be sure to book your accommodations or lodging early, to avoid disappointment.
Vacation rentals and condo rentals are a popular option in the region. The locals are happy to share their homes with travelers, as well as tell you about their vast history and culture.
