Martina Franca Accommodations

Reminiscent of fairytales, the picturesque conical-roofed stone dwellings are unique to the Puglia region, which includes the provinces of Taranto, Bari and Brindisi in Southern Italy. Stay within this picturesque area of Italy. Your made-to-order accommodations await you. Browse and read the details of the vacation rentals. Savour the details of your next villa rental. Within a 20-minute drive from Martina Franca, you will reach Alberobello, in the Province of Bari - an UNESCO World Heritage Site with modern-day homes occupying these limestone trulli, a testimony to the longevity of ancient building techniques.

Martina Franca is situated in the Val d’Itria, and is known as the city of wine. Enjoy the offerings of the vineyards along with the meal you prepared in the kitchen of your vacation rental accommodations. Experience first-hand why so many others prefer privately-owned vacation rentals for their holidays instead of staying at a hotel. Are you travelling solo or with a companion? Villas often have apartments as part of the resident owner’s family mansion. A villa rental with manicured gardens and swimming pools are most enjoyable.

Tantalizing the taste buds with its culinary presentations, as well as piquing the interest of history buffs, Martina Franca is a lovely gem set within the warmth of Italian hospitality. Elegant palaces and numerous churches attest to its vibrant economic heritage as a tax-free haven which began to attract business and subsequent wealth to this town in 1310. Four gates are still standing within the remains of the walled old-town. The Piazza Roma welcomes you with an oasis of trees and flowers with a fountain at its centre – an introduction to the magnificent Palazzo Ducal, with its Baroque facade dating back to 1668, and once home to the Caracciolo family. Originally planned to include 300 rooms, chapels, barns, court, theater and guest rooms, today it is home to historical archives, the town hall, and the tourist information centre. Pick up a map showing a walking tour of the old town and plan to see the 18th Century Basilica di San Martino in Piazza Plebiscito and the Covento delle Agostiniana, built in the 17th Century.

Before your walking tour begins, it is time for a welcomed break. A few steps from the Piazza Roma, as you exit the old town and walk through the ancient port, Porto Santo Stefano, you will arrive at the Piazza Septembre with its pedestrian area shaded by trees on either side and surrounded with arched-door entrances into shops and buildings. Ah, a café outside of the Bar Caffetteria! Time for a relaxing time of conversation, and great cappuccino, Sitting on a wrought-iron chair at one of the star-burst tiled tables, it is easy to appreciate its serene setting encompassed by trees, firmly rooted in red-box planters. In 1818, Marquis Giuseppe Ceva Grimaldi had the unexpected pleasure of discovering that enjoying a sherbet in Martina Franca on a warm day was made possible due to the ingenuity of snow being stored in a nevaie. Flavoured with juice or mint and cooked wine, vino cotto, and served on a sunny day to guests, be sure to treat yourself to the modern-day version.

  • Defined by the Times!

    Ostuni: Country style house
    3 BDR • 2 BA • Sleeps 6 • #247264
    275 to 315 EUR/night
Where modern comforts live in harmony with nature and tradition – a newly constructed trullo property reflecting the historic purpose and custom of the original “trullo” buildings – located strategically between the four market towns of the Valle d’Itria – Ostuni, Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica and Cisternino – within 8 hectares of private grounds. Family & Friends This trullo is ideal for six people – two couples with their own independent accommodation or a young family with two children, travelling with friends or grandparents, wishing to holiday together but with the benefit of their own private space. The trullo interiors: The property is comprised of two independent units, sleeping 4 and 2 respectively, each self-contained with kitchen and bath/shower room. 1 – The larger of the units, the principal trullo sleeps 4, made up of six cones, one of which has an expressive truncated top with a round hole; many years ago this would have been covered with a movable circular slab, to access grain, hay or straw stored inside. (Today it serves to give additional light and ventilation). The trullo is comprised as follows: the main entrance leads to an open plan living area with working fireplace, dining for 6 and kitchen plus two bedrooms, a double & a twin, each with built-in wardrobes and drawer units, guests share a bathroom. 2 – The second trullo accommodation, ideal for two (a child’s cot may be added) has conjoined trulli cones with a wooden mezzanine created within the conical roof above the beams. Once upon a time, this would have been used to hide family belongings & possessions or as it has been suggested, even secret admirers. The trullo accommodation is spacious and comfortable for two adults. The conjoined trulli have been adapted to accommodate a double bed, built-in wardrobe with kitchen corner, shower room and dining/seating area. With a log stove, ideal for cosy winter nights. The trullo exteriors: The adjoining trullo accommodations with their conical roofs are accessible by an outside stairway built into the roof, which you can also see on the façade of the second trullo. Traditionally, atop of the trullo you would find the stonemason’s signature, a handmade sand stone pinnacle which could be a disk, ball, cone, bowl, polyhedron, or a combination thereof. If you look closely at the photos you will be able to see the pinnacles of this trullo. Surrounding the trullo there are 8 hectares of olive orchards, shrubland and a variety of fruit trees. The grounds immediately surrounding the trullo have been laid with grass and Mediterranean plants and shrubs. **Within the grounds of this Trullo there is also a modernly styled farmhouse which is unoccupied during any period that guests are in residence at the Trullo. The infinity swimming pool – salt based – 12 x 6 metres with a maximum depth of 2.4 metres – is detached from the trullo property and behind the farmhouse. For the safety and protection of guests, there is an automated fabric pool cover available. Comfortable sun loungers for all the guests and umbrellas by the poolside. For guests convenience, there are two showers available, one solar power driven and external, and a second shower room with toilet facilities. *Swimming pool is closed from January to May and from October to December. During summer season, probably, swimming pool could be shared (from 3rd August to 30th August) with owners.

The London Evening Standard reported on the “Wild Beaches” of Puglia, The Washington Post, Forbes and Travel and Leisure.Com, to name but a few also had their views and hints as to where, what and why you must visit Puglia. Whilst a few journalist’s articles may give you an appetite to learn more, there is nothing like seeing Puglia with your own eyes. We offer you this villa as a base to explore the region of Puglia; discover for yourself the legendary wine and food; soak up the warm sunshine for the best part of the year; and melt in the embrace of its volatile history & architectural side effects. Location A short distance from the nearest beaches, this home provides a country setting whilst being both accessible to the private beaches (lido) and the old “White City” of Ostuni. The property abounds with privacy, situated at the end of a country lane, the odd trullo dispersed amongst the neighbouring properties. Description Trullo with its lamia sidekick. Two contrasts and two different atmospheres that are linked to provide two bedrooms with extra comfort, space and light; a unique shape that works delightfully for its guests. The overflow is its special strength, not just a poolside but an extension of the homestead. Walled terrace, ornate gardens with a splash of colour, vivid during the day and restful by night surround the magnetic infinity pool. An amazing surprise to be found once you enter the high walls that encircle and make this Trullo truly private. Location An island in the silent countryside of Putignano and Turi. This is farming country on the doorstep of a thriving town, Putignano, most noted for having one of the oldest carnivals in Europe (first edition was in 1394) and for its long carnival season; beginning on St Stephen’s Day, 26th of December, and concludes on Shrove Tuesday. The village of Turi by contrast gets its popularity by having held a notable person in detention once upon a time. We prefer to celebrate its prolific production of cherries. Friends & Family A place just for kids, friends, family; somewhere to take refuge for 4 people, wanting to be far away from everything. Interiors Two bedrooms, the main bedroom is a double with a pool outlook; the second has a double pull out sofa bed. Two shower rooms. The Interiors Central to this unit is the majestic trullo, surrounded by its smaller domed companions, one of them a ‘torretta’ with a flat roof, all crowded together to create a beautiful holiday home, to charm friends and family. The large farmhouse kitchen with ceiling high double doors allows in the sunlight, providing an observation point over the flower and vegetable gardens. The kitchen is intended for culinary experiences, a point for consulting. Wooden cupboards and the long dining table handcrafted by local artisans; objects & ceramic bowls selected for their artistic and practical purpose. This home proposes a historical experience, living in the original trulli space. Services for guests are typical of top-quality accommodation; providing a mini-fridge, TV, kettle, herbal teas, unobtrusive cool and warm air system, wardrobe space, seating area with sofa bed, shower room, wi-fi. ‘Sole’ (sleeps 2) the master trulli has a distinctive and original ‘cementine’ flooring in the double bedroom; an open space lounge and kitchen interlinked by a low bearing stone mantel, niches and loft angles within the white stone structure, and a daybed overlaid with furnishings of soft blue & beige hues. The many apertures bathe the room with a natural and welcoming warm light. ‘Giove’ (sleeps 2) the trullo between the sun and the moon. The colours and images of the locally found cactus bush, the prickly pear or ‘fico d’india’, is celebrated in Giove with an unusually deep fondness. Perhaps there is a connection between the largest planet in the solar system ‘Giove’ – Jupiter and this prolific fruit of Puglia? ‘Giove’ has a twin room with a peaceful garden outlook, shower room and a cheerful seating area (also sofa bed for two if needed). ‘Luna’, (sleeps 2) with a double bed, is soft upon the eyes, with complimentary sunset colours and mellow brown furnishings. Up a couple of steps to the little courtyard, a playful space with hammock and its own patio furniture for morning coffee. Exteriors The bamboo shaded veranda throws arrows of light over the slender stone-built dining table with detailed colourful and hand-made light fixtures suspended above. An extension of the kitchen, a dining area and somewhere to gather with friends and family embracing the aromas, the colours of the kitchen and the explosion of the garden fruits, vegetables and flora. From the patio, a stoned paved walkway encircles the home, accessing each trullo apartment; Sole, Giove and Luna. The swimming pool is tucked away to the far side of the property with a backdrop provided by the distant and historic town of Cisternino, olive trees, fruit trees, tall trees & small trees, an explosion of lavender and Mediterranean bush and brush alternating the magical panorama. An outside shaded lounge by the pool is an additional vantage point to view the landscape, and the never- ending changes of light; the sun as it rises and dips along the horizon. Reinforcing the wellbeing of body and spirit in a pleasurable rhythm of relaxation.
