The Mid Coast is located along Maine's Atlantic Ocean coastline and is home to a plethora of many small coastal towns. The area is known for its rocky shoreline and not-too-distant islands. Tourism is a big hit in the region, resulting in a lot of vacation rental and condo rental accommodations being available.

Once you’re settled into your lodging accommodation, go out and explore the beautiful naturals vistas offered in Mid Coast. For the music lovers, Rockland offers the North Atlantic Blues Festival during the height of the vacation season in July. The Common Ground Fair, Maine Lobster Festival and Camden Windjammer Festival are a few of the other events that occur in the area. Any of our vacation rentals will put you near something stimulating.

The town of Bath is a distinct and exciting tourist destination that offers a look at shipbuilding and seafaring history through the Maine Maritime Museum. With its own working shipyard and boat construction displays, the museum is a great opportunity to learn about American maritime history. If water is not your thing, then head down to bath’s historic Front Street. Restored for your enjoyment, the street offers various shops and restaurants and was dubbed one of the “Ten Great Streets in America” by the American Planning Association.

While in the Mid Coast don’t miss the opportunity to take part in some great, family-friendly activities like biking or walking along the coast. Take a swim or go kayaking if you’re not afraid to get wet and for a truly magical experience, take a guided whale watching tour. Regardless of where you choose your vacation rental accommodation, you won’t be too far from the beautiful coastline.

For the wine enthusiasts, the Maine Winery Guild invites you to follow the Maine Wine Trail that extends along the coast from the southern town of Wells to the northern town Cherryfield. Along the way you will be privy to a showing of twenty wineries with samples in their tasting rooms.

A myriad selection of condo rentals and other types of vacation rentals and accommodations are available in Mid Coast with Owner Direct.

A fresh, contemporary 3-BR, 2 Bath house high on a heavily wooded hillside overlooking (and with frontage on) the Back River of the Sheepscot, which leads into Sheepscot Bay and eventually into the Atlantic Ocean.. The house offers three private bedrooms, two of which can compete to be called the "master" bedroom -- one up, one down, each with a queen bed and a glass door opening onto a deck overlooking the river. There is a full bath on each floor. The third bedroom upstairs has two twin beds and a full sleeper sofa. Overall there are sleeping accommodations for 8 people. There is also a "Pack-N-Play" for a baby if needed (please bring your own linens for the baby.) The house is surrounded by landscaped gardens reflecting the extraordinary diversity of plants and flowers that burst forth in Maine in late Spring as the days begin to lengthen. Follow the winding trail from the house down the hill and through the woods to a floating dock on the Back River of the Sheepscot. Look left (north) to see in the distance the Route 1 bridge connecting Wiscasset with Edgecomb and the Boothbay Region. Look right (south) to see the small bridge connecting the mainland with Westport Island, and beyond that bridge in the distance, Sheepscot Bay and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. Overhead you'll see cormorants, osprey, and occasionally eagles and red-tailed hawks, plying the river hunting for prey. Down at the water you'll find the rushing tide either in or out, as the Sheepscot is one of the great tidal rivers of Maine. (We don't recommend swimming off of the dock. As the river is deep and flows swiftly, and for most of the year is quite cold, we recommend that you swim instead at one of the state parks mentioned below.) White, sandy beaches are rare in Maine, but there are two state parks (Reid and Popham Beach State Parks) that offer long stretches of them, both just a short drive from Wiscasset. Wiscasset itself is one of Maine's most beautiful and historic towns, with many others a short distance including Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Damariscotta across the aforementioned bridge to the northeast, and Bath, Brunswick, and Portland back down the coast to the southwest. Portland's Jetport (PWM) is the major regional airport serving the mid-coast area of Maine and is only one hour's drive from the property. Some of the best restaurants in Maine are within a half-hour drive. There are many other shopping opportunities, with Maine pottery being one of the regional specialties. The towns of Edgecomb and Damariscotta are both homes to artisans who turn out some of the most beautiful hand-painted pottery in the world. A must-do day trip is to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, to wander among breathtaking landscapes of trees, plants and flowers of every description, walk miles of trails through the woods and down to the river -- also called the Back River coincidentally, but the back branch of a different river than the Sheepscot. There is a lovely gift shop and excellent restaurant on the premises for lunch. Our goal is to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. You should need only to purchase the food and beverages you will need for your stay. The kitchen is well appointed and fully equipped. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi and satellite TV w/ 127 channels on a 48" HDTV. Upon arrival, easily access your home with a keyless secure door code; no need for an in-person key exchange. Your rental will be professionally cleaned and ready for you to enjoy. You can expect all comforts of a fine hotel, including shampoo, soaps, paper products, towels, and linens.
